Awesome Advice !!! Best Advice You've Been Given ??

Thank you Mister Man who stopped to pump gas at the Inland Gas Station and I luckily happened to walk by !!! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/cool.png

Mason and I just got back from our morning walk. We had stopped half-way through the walk at a gas station/convenience store because it's rather warm and I thought Mason might want some water ... he didn't.

So leaving and passing the pumps, a man stepped from his truck and eyed Mason.

"You need ta put the chain (pronounced like chang) on 'im and work 'im," offered the gentleman.

I guess he meant that Mason needs to carry some weight while walking. Occasionally we see folks walking their dogs with a "leash" made of only HUGE HEAVY chain. Maybe that's what he meant.

What local, sage advice have you had bestowed upon you or your doggie while out and about ?? http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

That my dog was a pureblood rednose and I should breed her. Ok. Thank you sir http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png.

Oddly enough, that comment was also made at a gas station. Perhaps we should stop walking near gas stations http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png.

I was greeted by a kid riding shotgun in a honda civic with his girlfriend with these exact words "is he neutered, cuz I breed" lol

It hurt my brain to try and figure out that quote Joe lol

I don't think I've ever been offered advice, however I've was offered $7,000 for my first dog who was maybe 8mths at the time? It went a lil somethin like this:
(4 kids between 14-16yrs old hangin around an 80's delta 88 playin loud music)
"Eh YO! Lemme get ya pit!" (as they all look and the talker starts walking towards us.
Me-"Ummm.. what? no."
(apparently they didn't like my tone and stopped what they all were doing to walk towards us)
"I gi' you 7 gran man"
Me-"Get real man"
"Wuteva mane dat at no pit anyway"
Me-"Oh, okay."

LOL, this was 2yrs ago and I still laugh. They all came out into the street like they were about to mug me for my dog. Well my dog didn't their energy very much so they turned around lol

I don't know LilianaLove ... maybe the price of gas these days makes folks a little wacky or they get too close to the fumes or something http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/dunno.gif

Well someone just got stabbed at my gas station, so I'll just stay away for that reason also http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.png. But I shouldn't worry, since my pure blood red nose pit is obviously the best guard dog and will definitely protect me against a mugger http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.png.

Good idea !!! People put on weight and that's why I don't go to McDonald's ... also I don't go to church because of disease and virus found where people gather in large congregations.

I was given the advice that I should get my "greyhound mix" into some sort of running sport....I don't own a greyhound..btw

The best real advice- It costs just as much to feed a loser as it does a winner. Be honest with yourself and only keep what works.

The best lines of BS- "I'm from the animal shelter, and I noticed that your dogs look very hot and they're not sweating. That means they're dehydrated and you should give them water. Ice water would be best." Dog sweat???? Yet again, at a gas station.

Dogs that hunt are too mean to be around kids. You shouldn't let your kids be around them.

I had a "friend" tell me one day that I shouldn't let Cassie "hug" me like I do all the time.(if I'm sitting, she puts her front paws on either side of me, and lays her head on my shoulder like she's hugging me, SO cute!) because it meant she was "dominating" me and thinking she was in charge.... lol
I just smh, and laughed, and said, "O, I thought it meant she was sizing me up to see if I'll fit in her mouth".

I've gotten frequent "advice" from random people saying I "shouldn't have gotten her fixed, I could've made SOOO much money!!" http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/no2.gif

Not really advice, but I did have a couple guys outside stop me on a recent walk with Cassie, ask me what type of dog she was, and then disagree with me, and say she was a border collie??? Couldn't do much to respond to that one other then walk away laughing.

There was a pretty funny thread like this before, but I cannot find it.

There's the classic advice, that even my MIL gave us

"She'll turn on you. I'll never let her near my schnauzer because pit bulls have a gene that will make them turn on you"

Teligacio 03-28-2012 08:27 PM

"You need to get rid of THAT dog before he attacks your daughter!" (from a family member)
"He looks like he could kill someone, you need to use a thicker leash!" (from some man who stopped in his truck just to tell me that while we were out walking"

crazuMovies 03-28-2012 09:14 PM

"You can't adopt adult dogs because they won't accept you as the dominant animal"

Cydayshosse 03-28-2012 09:26 PM

No one gets close enough to me to worry about a conversation when I have Harley on a walk. Their eyes get huge and they back away.

Well except at the pet store. I have a problem there wtih everyone wanting to pet him and one guy felt the need to inform me that "pits are great dogs, they are really good with kids too"..... oh so you mean he wont eat my son sitting in the cart Im pushing? Darn.

When Nova comes to work with me I walk her down the street to a grassy patch so she can use the bathroom. We were walking back and a guy in an old beat up truck slams on his brakes and yells "Ay let me get that dog" I said "you must be crazy I love this dog, you cant have her" Then he says "well let me breed her with gunpowder" (his dogs name I presume) I told him she was fixed, He said "so that dont matter she can still have puppies" After explaining to him what fixed meant he said "that a shame, gunpowder would have tore that up" haha. Some people in this world.

"Is that a Saint Bernard? You know they got locking jaws like pit bulls right?"

wonceinee 03-28-2012 10:48 PM

I've had kids asking to ask if they wanted to breed snow because she is such a 'beautiful pit bull' and i've had others saying that she isn't really a pit bull because she isn't attacking the first person she sees. I've also been told to get rid of her because she will one day attack me and I've been told that she needs to wear a muzzle?

I had a guy one day yell across three lanes at me in down town Shreveport, LA asking if my dog was a pit. I just yelled back 'Nah man she's a mutt'. LOL

"You know what you do when he starts playing too rough? You punch him in the nose. That's the only way to stop him since he can't hear you."

Peter Hill 03-29-2012 12:39 AM

I was told by a trainer I was thinking of hiring (before I knew better) that it is irresponsible and dangerous to own a dog that is DA and cannot be around other dogs in Chicago where there are "more dogs per square mile than people". http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.png

Innoloinarp 03-29-2012 01:14 AM

Just a few days ago I was told by a POLICE OFFICER to "watch out around that dog" and "make sure I get rid of him before I have children"
