That's crazy talk!

Dang. My dog could jump up in my big rig even without using the steps. But I did see a guy use a ramp for elderly dog though.
Yeah he's a bit of a cripple at the ripe old age of 11 months.http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif His hip dysplasia kinda puts a damper on his mobility

We have a ramp that we use to get our 165 lb. Bullmastiff around, it really is the only way unless I have help...and even that's hard. Needless to say, we only take him places when we have to, because it's such a PITA.

If you're interested, you can buy them at any Petsmart and they fold up so you can just throw it in the bed on your truck.
That sounds like more a PITA than just picking him up, looks like in gonna have to grin and bear it. Thanks though!

We have a pretty high truck.
Nick gets in the front, then climbs in the back seat.
Rosie CAN jump in, but I don't like her to, so I let her jump, but I'm right there to help boost her if she doesn't quite make it.
Frankie can't jump that high (yet) she'll stand on the running board, then I lift her from there. Same with my Element. She can jump onto the tailgate, but just puts her front feet up and wait for me to lift her in.

I know what you mean Mac is a heavy 72 pounds and i have to lift him up into my truck as well he doesn't mind but it's going to age my back quick.

Yeah he's getting surgery Thursday, he's scared shitless of jumping out of it, and he can't fully make it in. I've tried coming up with ways, but he can't figure it out. Luckily my roommate has a car to bring him home from the vet after surgery so I dont have to completely drag him up there.

moohassinny 09-25-2012 09:01 AM

That's how diesel is, he can get his front paws up on the seat, then I do the work from there

Pick him up?

With my girl Gypsy (RIP), she would put her front feet up on the truck and then wait for me to lift her up the rest of the way.

RarensussyRen 09-26-2012 09:01 AM

He can't jump up there?

But wait, is this the dog that's getting an FHO?

If it is, tough luck, I'd be picking him up every time he got in and out. I mean, I guess you could get some kind of ramp but it might be more of a pain than just picking him up.

Trercakaressy 09-28-2012 09:01 AM

I got it. Put a suspension system in truck that lowers when you put it in park lol

Ways to get dog Into truck?

I just swapped my summer tires back on to my truck and now my dog can't get into it, it wasn't bad last time I had the tires on in November and he didn't weigh as much. Now he's 75 lbs and it's more of a hassle lifting him in. Any ideas how to get him up there?

I lift my 45lb-er into the truck bed but she can make it into the cab. I've seen collapsible ramps and fixed size rampe. (Gonna build a ramp for my bed down the road when/if her hips get worse) I just got a walking harness with a handle on the top - what about something like that?

VipInoLo 09-29-2012 09:01 AM

Trigger pretty much leaps (which requires room).... , it is not as easy for him to get into the truck when it is in the garage.

There are step type platforms available for dogs as well as ramps.

I throw steel and aluminum around for a living, play hockey every chance I get, and generally do way too many stupid things when I'm drinking, lifting my dog up is the last thing that's gonna hurt my back lol

Ahem. We don't use the words lower, suspension, and truck in the same sentence.

Thank you.

My buddy from Tennessee used those words in the same sentence, it ended up with me laughing my ass off as he ran over his air dam. Apparently the roads down there are smoother http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif

Haha I'm glad someone agrees a smaller truck is absolutely not an option. The worst part is really getting him out of the truck, he always manages to get his front paw tangled in the seatbelt so I have to do a cute little ballerina spin to untangle him

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I know what you mean... I think next time, you should have someone video it so there's NO doubt http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/tongue.png
