Hi, this is my first post I'm new to the site (:
I use to have (hoping to get back shortly) a red nose female pit who I'm kind of debating wether she is full pit of not. She doesn't have the ears like a pit does (high on her head) they are more floppy and bigger I can't really explain I'd have to try get a picture! And she isn't at all stocky or like a apbt shape, having said that she is very skinny at the moment poor girl ![]() However- she does have the tail of a pit and does look some what like a pit, just with the ears and her being kind of small and slim framed(even when she is healthy and not skinny) she doesn't seem like a full one! ? ![]() |

Do you have a pedigree? Are you still in contact with the person who bred the dog's litter and do you actually, truly trust that person? If you say no to either of these, then there's a good chance you'll never know if she's pure bred. Even then, papers can be hung, accidents can happen that the breeder doesn't want to own up to etc..
But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy her as your companion. ![]() How old is your girl? Any pictures? |

Welcome to PBC!
Just do you know, "red nose" is only the color of her nose, it has nothing to do with breed or bloodline. APBTs are not a stocky breed of dog. Many people that don't know any better like to confuse them with American Bullies which can be a stockier dog depending on what style you're looking at. I don't know much about the styles but I do know that there are 4. APBTs have a naturally slender and athletic build. Ears can be many shapes and sizes. And because she's more than likely a mix, the options are endless. Just to show, this little guy is some kind of bulldog mix and he's got full front flop ears: ![]() Or if you look in my avatar, you can see my dog's (a mix) ears are rose, which I see more often. I agree with Robyn and Joe though, without papers from a responsible breeder, there's no way to know for sure what breed she is. All anyone can do is guess. So just love her and train her well to be the best pet and puppy ambassador for bulldogs. ![]() |

She's 3 and nope no papers unfortunately, It doesn't bother me what so ever if she is full pit, half pit or not even a pit at all tbh lol, I'm just curious
![]() ---------- Post added at 09:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:02 AM ---------- This is proberbly the closest picture I could get where her ears look similar to this! When I get my laptop up and working again I'll post pictures of her ![]() THIS IS NOT HER http://www.petswithdisabilities.org/...nd_Pit_Sit.jpg |

those ears look like a rose which is normal for a bully breed, that said, I look forward to seeing photos of your girl, and welcome to the forum!
nothing wrong with owning mutts(that is what most of us have, with dreams to own a pedigreed dog one day) I own 2 mutts (one is an unpapered Am. Bully which I still consider a mutt) and are proud of it. I am eager to see your girls weight (most people think a dog is skinny when its actually a good weight, not saying yours is not skinny as you say but we will see, I hope she is a good weight though ![]() |

You won't know what she is without a pedigree from a reputable breeder, but some of the members here can give you information on what about her structure looks like good APBT conformation. They would need pictures to do that though.
In the mean time, which one of these ears does hers look more alike? ![]() |
