Currently a 10 hour drive isnt something I feel comfortable driving, I hate driving a stick shift (husbands car), and my car is having problems with my twin turbo and not going to attempt another long and they coming unhooked again! but driving a farther distance will be different once I get a new vehicle or get my car fixed. Im not bitching about the distance of them, but when I think of something being close Im not thinking 30 mins away either! I realize Im going to have to drive farther than that. Also the distances you are driving are you also competing when you get there? Because I kind of think that makes a bit of a difference if you are. I am not going to drive 10 hours away just to watch a show, but would be willing to drive a couple hours away.

I got star to stack by himself if he was interested in something like another dog, a treat, and one time a forklift.

of course I compete and do it at the highest level possible.... however, i didn't learn and figure it out by sitting on a keyboard.... i got off my fat azz, got in a car and drove..... it took off from there and has become a passion..... i would have never sat on line moaning about driving... especially after looking at the show calendar (ADBA website) and seeing where shows took place... i figured that if it was something I wanted... I was gonna have to travel.... It's a no-brainer.... Now, there are many, many folks who attend their one or two local shows every year, then there are folks who attend most shows in their region and then there are the nuts like myself who think nothin of traveling 1300 miles one way on a thur... arriving sat morning... showing sat and sun and then turning around for home....

It is what it is.... either go or sit on here and moan...

I use paint cans or large chicken broth cans. if they move they fall.
also make sure to give lots of treats, and never correct a puppy while you are teaching them to stack

@ mikefrommd- I didn't think I was necessarily moaning about it! I said I'd have no problem driving a couple hours away. I find it kind of diffucult to get there when my car isn't running right. I would love to go to some shows, so if at this time they were closer it wouldn't be a problem. Your lucky you have the availability and resources to go on a thurs not get there til sat leave on Sunday's, so that's what Monday or Tuesday you get back? I currently am unable to do that.(even if my car were fine) According to the ADBA website as far as I could tell they don't have any shows until march anyways, maybe I lookd at their calendar wrong though. So asking now and getting some advice on practicing is what I am doing. So that being said I appreciate everyones comments and advice on getting her to stack. I was a little worried about her being scared at first and thank you Kady for clearing up that it's a normal reaction at first!

She's very pretty. Looks like my old girl when she was a pup. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png
