When I first got Luna having a daily routine was kind of hard because at work they decided to switch around some of my hours. Well last week I had my last day there because I'm getting a better job just wanted a week or two off before i start my new job. So I'm wondering, what kind of routine do you have with your dog along with having a job? How early do you wake up before you go to work do you get up? I guess more or less want to know how you do things before work? Wake up, take dog out, shower, getting ready? that kind of stuff? do you have any amount of play time before you go to work? Luna will be crated From about 10 am until my husband gets home, he usually gets home about 3-4 PM but he really doesnt have a set hour to get off do it could be earlier or later. then i will be home about 730-8. So should i go ahead and crate her for a few hours during the day now until I get my job so its not out of the blue for her? I'm not crating her during the day right now unless i have to go somewhere and when we go to bed, and im pretty consistant on her bedtime, even if i'm not going to bed yet. Would love to know your daily routines with your dogs just to get an idea on how i should go about it with her before I go to work!!

I don't work because I am a stay at home mom, but with multiple dogs and other pets needing food, water, supplements like fish oil and vitamin E, cages cleaned, fresh veggies prepared for the tortoise and parrot, I think I spend about 1 hour 40 minutes in the morning and again in the evening. If I were working, I would do a walk in the morning, another in the evening and training time.
So, I imagine I would get up, take the dogs walking, feed and water everyone, shower, dress and then head out. I'd get up about 3 hours before I have to leave to make enough time for morning care since that is when I do the bulk of my work on the pets. I am not at all sure I would have the energy for it in the evening! As for crating, everyone gets let out of the crates, goes potty, comes in to drink their water, goes back in the crates for feeding and a nap (during which I do housework) gets let back out about 1.5 hours later for potty, spends the rest of the day with me, go back into the crates for the evening meal, get let out right away, go potty, hang out until bedtime and then go to bed. I randomly put them in their crates if I have to leave, if I am training one on one, if I am mopping the floors, if a repairman is coming, or if I am repairing something. So, they handle getting crated out of the blue pretty well. |

Amy can hold her pee for what seems like forever. She's actually never had an accident for holding it too long (she did once when she was panicked after I got a suitcase out).
My schedule has changed recently because I like to give both of us lots of exercise. Here's the schedule: I wake up at 5, grab my coffee, and take her on a 3-mile walk which takes about an hour. If I oversleep or something then she only goes for a mile. Breakfast for her, quick shower for me. Breakfast for me, and then she goes into her room (I keep her in a room, not a crate, which works fine for us) around 6:30. I leave her with a treat like a peanut-butter filled kong or something else yummy. It used to stress her out when I left so I put a thundershirt on her but now I don't need it anymore. I go to work and come home around 5 or 5:30. We go back out for a long 3-4 mile walk. Then dinner for both of us, then I do whatever I need to do. We usually have an evening play/training session and then a quick 10-minute walk for her right before bed around 10. ---------- Post added at 07:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 PM ---------- wait, that's wrong. I was thinking my old hours. I'm home at around 4 - 4:30 now. Otherwise that's my schedule. |

Definitely 'practice' with her in the crate gradually increasing minutes/hours. I have it easy with a home office - we take a walk from 7:30-8 before work (I get up at 7:10). I am NOT a morning person, so if I had to commute to work, I wouldn't do much except maybe 5 mins of fetch before I went to work. I feed her at 8am - we don't have to crate, tho, even when we're gone. I need to practice crating more, myself, tho since she doesn't like to miss out on anything while being in there. We play fetch around 5 or 5:30 every evening.

;p My dog can only EVER went potty in the house 1 time when I FIRST got her. But anyways.. I take dog out, wake up, feed, let her out on her lead while Im Having my tea.. get ready for work, and sometimes I take her with me.. other times I dont... I'll be abck around lunch time to either let her out to pee or drop her of from being at work. In the evening time is when we exercise. ![]() |

Thanks got posting this question! I've been working from home since I got Sasha when she was 10 Weeks and now she's 7 months. I'm going back to work in a couple weld and will have to leave her at home all day. I've been completly stressing about this!
She's so good now I don't want to ruin her! I've started daily morning walks and make her stay in get crate sometimes even when i'm home. Also been leaving her home more alone crated rather than take her out with me. i'm investing in a wireless webcam so I can see how she handles it during the day when we are gone. Yes, my friends call me helicopter Mom. ![]() Good luck!!! |

I don't work, but I'm a full-time student, so I think the same general thing applies.
I wake up (at 7am or 9am depending on which day it is), Brennan is all excited and wants me out of bed immediately ![]() He has to wait till I come home most days to use the bathroom, but sometimes my mom will take him out if I'm going to be gone a really long time or if he cries to be let out. He's crated all day, then he's let out in the late evenings and fed a fish oil capsule and his dinner. He also gets a walk in the evening. |

Monday and Wednesday: up at 9, feed, hang out for an hour, outside for weight pull training and then play in the yard, chill out inside, training, then I work 4-9, then it's a 2.5 mile walk after work.
Tuesday: get up, feed, hangout, play outside, work 11-4 then 4-9, 2.5 mile walk after work. Thursday: up, feed, play, come to work with me from 12-8, then 2.5 mile walk after wards. Friday: I'm off so it's a free for all day, usually involves going to the park, training, weight pull training, Saturday: up early and feed, come to work with me 9-5, walk 2.5 miles and training after work. Sunday: up early and feed, work 8:30-3:30, then whatever else for the rest of the day plus a 2.5 mile walk. |

thanks everyone! sounds about like everyone does just about the same thing (for the most part) makes me feel better, I was worried I needed to wake up extra early and pay extra attention before work, and im not too much of a wake up too early kinda person! LOL.... before I took time off from working, I was working 11-7 Mon, Wed, Fri, so wake up about 930, take Luna out, come in and eat,I'd go shower get dresses, play with Lun aas much as I could, take her out 20 mins before I had to be at work, then shed come in and go into her crate and I would leave 5 mins until 11 ( same thing for on Tues and Thurs, only i didnt have to be at work until 2 so we'd wake up about noon)
