Ok now I think it's kennel cough, I had a foster Faith a long time ago that did the same thing, every time Millie goes outside, she starts wheezing for a bit and coughs at the end, but hopefully the meds work .

Also wanted to ask another question, how hard is it to change a 4 year old dog's name? I really want to change it to Hazel

Thanks for the replies guys missed you all

Default I'm back, with amazing news, I feel complete again......Ps new dog inside ;-)
I AM SO HAPPY! I have not felt the same since Destiny passed, I didn't have a cuddle buddy, and I felt like I didn't have a companion anymore, granted I have Tyson, he is just hyper active and it wasn't the same. My daughter wanted a puppy, so I went to the shelter yesterday to look at some pit mix pups I found online, I saw them, and heard this whimper, and I looked at the kennel next door, and saw her, spent 2 hours with her and fell in love. I thought about it alot lastnight, and went back and got her today, they said she has kennel cough, but it seems more of a cold to me, she is on doxycyclin (sp) and it's only been 3 days, she has 11 days left of that (I convinced me to give them the remainder of the dosage although they typically do not do that).

Her name is Millie and has been since she was born, the story they got was it was the kids responsibility to take care of the dog and the parents ended up doing it and she just had a baby and couldn't handle her so they surrendered her, she is about 4 years old, weighs about 35-40lbs, quite short and I have no idea what she is mixed with but she is gorgeous! Her legs look good and teeth look good and she is all around really healthy!

The best part, my daughter Madison, who is now 4 years old, typically doesn't like bigger dogs but she LOVES her, she won't go near Tyson because he is so hyper and won't ever calm down, but she is perfectly content with Millie, although she has licking problems haha!

They think she may be coming into heat, and looks sorta swollen, but I cannot tell, her adoption fee was only $80 and that includes her spay and a free vet visit, so I made an appointment at my vet for 2 weeks from now to make sure the kennel cough is gone

They said she was around 3 other pitbulls her whole life, and they swore she hasn't had puppies but her nipples are quite large. Enjoy! I am not letting her meet Tyson for a week or two.

Here are the pictures!

Ride home

First pee on her new yard

Does she look swollen?

How I have missed you April!!!! she is BEAUTIFUL! I am so glad your girl loves her and can play with her and such. I think its rather easy to change a name for any dog, just start useing the new name in play and training like "good girl X" and such and she will soon learn it.

Now comes the bad part, it's about to rain, so Tyson has to come in, no matter where I put his crate, he is going to whine and flip out, he is used to being inside of it, but he knows she is here. And I have a feeling he is going to intentionally poop and pee in it, he's like that lol.

Thanks guys! And yea I am not letting Tyson meet her until she is 100% better from whatever is wrong, can't he still get it though being in the same house?

Maybe. I don't know for sure. I'd wash my hands between handling them just in case.

That is where I got her, not sure if policies are different for humane societies vs shelters, but yea it's shitty.

Remember when those 96 dogs were seized from that lady in that trailer, the Ambullies? Yea $20 bucks, they gave them away, some with papers :/

You can't always tell by the nipples, one of my girls is almost 6, never been bred, any weight we put on her goes straight to doggie boobies first and because of that, she gets irritated and scratches them, making a couple as big as giant blackberries lol.

Congrats on your new addition!

I think there is nothing wrong with changing a dog's name. They learn their new names very quickly, especially if you help her associate her new name with treats. :-) I think she is beautiful, what a nice find! Liek was said, some females just have bigger girlie parts than others, I had an American Bully that I was taking care of for another person and she was 2 yrs old, unspayed, but since she had gone through some heats, she had big nipples too. I've heard that they can shrink some after they're spayed.
