Default My dog got propositioned this morning....
Trigger went out with my husband on their usual morning bike-ride. When he stopped at a light a man approached said "what a good looking dog, do you want to breed him? I got a brindle female who I would like to breed."

The man, first of all, NEVER really looked close, and my husband told him Trigger was fixed, end of story... he still went on about why would we do that.

If I had been there I would certainly have said a few things..first ...like it's none of your business.

We usually get some people staring at Trigger on our bike rides, but usually after they get a good look at his tail end, they stop. These dogs are in high demand here for the obvious reasons, and I'm so glad we got him fixed.

Trigger is a good looking dog, but I know it is because we have given him quality care, lots of excercise, and that is what shows. But after being here on the forum, I have learned he does not meet show quality material, and that is okay. I am just happy I know the difference and so many people don't and have no business owning and especially breeding them. I'm happy we were able to intervene and bring this dog back to health, and I will certainly take credit for his "good looks".

I know if I ever get my own APBT, Iknow what to look for in the breed.

Here is a pic of our boy, before they went on their bike ride/walk. He looks a bit heavy to me on this pic, but everyone else thinks he looks fine.

It happens to us sometimes, and even after we tell them our dogs are fixed they still ask...obviously oblivious to what spay/neuter means.

Side note: we live in the same place! (I can see it on the trash cans)

It's cause he's so handsome...duh...lol

Both my pups are females, and depending on where we go for our usual walk, we tend to get propositioned as well. (they're both spayed of course) I've had several offers for my dog Karma (a pit/hound mix?) to breed with "other hunting dogs" because she's so "pretty" lol silly people everywhere I guess.

I have not gotten asked this question yet...Goren scares people lol and Logan is only 6 months, but as I am not getting Logan fixed and he is a great looking dog I am sure they will come in time. But then again when I walk its normally in the heat of the day so who knows >.

I live off of Malabar, down by the PB regional park.

I don't know if you're interested, but there's a lure coursing event on the 29th we'll be going to over at the Wickham Park Pavillion. I can send you the info if you like.

You should post more pictures of Trigger =)

Yup, we've been asked before. DH & I were walking Rosie down a street at a festival. Some guy walks by and asked if we wanted to breed her. We said she's fixed, and he replied, ahh, too bad.

It'll happen at some point. I had some guys following me in a car while I was walking Paris and Powder once. If it wasn't for Powder slowing down and watching them I wouldn't have paid any attention to them. As I turned to look they pulled up close, commented on the dogs and asked if I was going to and wanted to breed them. I said they were both fixed, his response was that's okay I have a female that I want to breed and she's not . Since I was a few houses down from mine we cut through some town house and took the scenic route home that day.

Oh, that would be great! Thank you...(I have no idea, however, what lure coursing is)

Thank you all for the comments and compliments, I will get some more pics of Trigger posted when I can.

Yes, we have had people slow down checking him out and they will then take off after getting a good look at him or yell out how good looking he is. Glad you had an escape route.

Lure coursing is where the dogs chase a "lure". There are some videos on the website. I've emailed the lady running it and so far I really like her and she seems really nice.

We do lure coursing competitively.. it's great fun! you should definitely go!!

As for the original topic... get used to it! LOL I've been asked all sorts of stupid things in regards to breeding my dogs... including one of my favourites that was just BEYOND stupid. I was at a fuel station, had taken Ruger out to pee, and was just about to put him back in the truck when this guy wanders up to me...

Guy: Pretty dog
Me: Thank you!
Guy: Can I pet him?
Me: Absolutely! He loves people
Guy: *petting Ruger* Wow, he sure is ripped!
Me: He does like to stay fit!
Guy: Do you have any puppies for sale?
Me: No
Guy: Oh... will you?
Me: No, he's neutered
Guy: Neutered? Would he pass that on to his pups then?
Me: *blinks* What? No... "neutered" means he no longer has testicles
Guy: Wow, that's fucked up... *walks away*

People really are clueless!!
