Cali does it with the cornors of blankets all the time. she will look and dig for a cornor then suck on it and fall alsleep i have a picture here :P

I knew a blanket sucker and a teddy bear sucker. Now we have CoCo who kneads and sucks on her ball.

Yes, my foster does the paw thing too. I think it's related to nursing. The theory used to be that the dog was taken away from the mom dog too soon, weaned too early. But that might be a old wives tale.

I had a Jack Russell mix that use to suck on a stuffed toy dog back leg to either fall asleep or just for comfort.

capone doesnt suck on blankets but he sure does love to play under them
i would agree with the comfort thing also..or maybe she just likes to have her own blanket

Yes!!
Izzy does it all the time especially to pillows, she has her own old ratty pillow case that she sucks on when shes angry.
She bunches it up then kneeds it and sucks on it till she falls asleep.

She does it with sheets and blankets too.

I knew a blanket sucker and a teddy bear sucker. Now we have CoCo who kneads and sucks on her ball.

I didn't even think of toys.. that's so funny because Rocko gets in a chomping rhthym with his ball then starts to suck on it.... and Onyx sucks on her kong... but I didn't even think about it because those are toys and the blanket was unique to me lol.

Well, Dozer is out of our Onyx and Rocko. He nursed on Onyx until he was roughly 5wks old until mom wanted no more of the pups teeth. We owned him til' he was 4 months old, he went to his new home... and we took him back when he was about 1.5yrs old and had him ever since (he's going on 3 in April). We just weren't able to find him a good home. Anyways... with that said... I think the 'weaned too early' theory is not true lol.

Maybe if I knew why cats 'mix' their paws... then maybe that would be the same explanation for our dogs that suck on things and 'mix' their paws... ? Not sure. lol.

Dogs are so weird lol. My mom told me that her coworker said that her weenie dog sucks on stuffed animals noses and eyes until they pop out really far haha.

This is all rather like thumb sucking in kids, but there is no peer pressure from other kids to stop

Izzy does it all the time especially to pillows, she has her own old ratty pillow case that she sucks on when shes angry.
She bunches it up then kneeds it and sucks on it till she falls asleep.

She does it with sheets and blankets too.

Oh my goodness... so cute! That's exactly what Dozer does, bunches it all up, hold it in place and gets a mouth full haha. Have you ever tried taking it? Dozer's pretty funny... he's give me a 'what are you doing' type look and then tries to tug it back and if I let him have it, he immediately goes back to what he was doing lol.

That's funny. I've never seen it in adults, but I've watched a lot of puppies and I think this is exactly what it is....it is that kneading motion puppies do (along with the suckling) to get the milk flowing...if you watch puppies, this kneading stops when the milk starts flowing

I had a chuggle mutt that sucked on ONE pillow, he sucked on this flower pillow all the time like it was a teet.
He'd drag it with him to bed, and fall asleep sucking on it... he was 7-8 weeks when I got him... so I think he had mommy issues lol....

maximus doesn't suck on the blanket but the only way he will sleep is if he is in between me and my boyfriend on top of the covers, this way he gets the middle of the bed and we are pushed to the edges of the bed with very little blanket lol
