Before anyone asks for pics..I do not have a high definition camera so I can't show you, I will describe as well as I can.
Slayer according to most everyone is a Black and White dog. However in the light half the fur on some areas of her neck and throughout the body are reddish/brown. It almost looks brindled in, but its so faint you only see it in the sun if you are beside her. Is this normal?? |

I think those dogs with that REALLY subtle brindle might actually BE genetically brindle. From what I understand... to get brindle pups, one of the parents has to be brindle. I know a male that has that ''hint'' of brindle in certain lighting although he ''looked'' black if you weren't actually looking that hard.... he was bred to a pied dog, with no brindle and had brindle pups, which in turn means one of the parents had to be brindle. I think anyway!

My girl Venus was like that as well. Looked black but in the right lighting, you could see brindle stripes in there. When I got Nyx as well, I noticed she had one TINY red stripe on her neck. Her previous owners didn't even notice it. That was the first and only time I've ever seen that. I wish I would have taken a picture of it....

I had a black cat that had blacker stripes that you could see in the sun. I never could find an actual color that described it. Or find a picture of any other cat that color. Interesting to hear I wasn't imagining shit, and other animals can be colored the same way. So did I!! That is really weird lol. He was the most "dog-like" cat I ever had... slept in a dog house, ate dog food, followed us on walks, tried to bark, and sat on command! lol He looked solid black, except in the sun he looked like a tiger with black-on-black markings! |
