It simply comes down to this: do you give a shit about the breed or not? Are you a first time, one-time owner that will simply dump the carcass when your dog is done. or do you actually care about your dog and the breed?

No one that fight pits or works pits crops ears. Yuppies and gangsters crop ears. Why don't owners crop a game dog's ears? Tell me you people that know.

Why don't people that work pits crop ears, tell me.

If you aren't a wanna-be yuppie or a mean-as-shit gangsta, why crop your pit's ears?
because I love the look and it does better in the show ring.
anyone who knows me can tell you I'm not a yuppie OR a gangster. I welcome you to take a look at my facebook page

GWRIeEQp 11-15-2011 03:10 AM

I want to crop my pit bull's ears because it looks good and who the fuck are you to judge me for doing that? A lot of people that show their pit bulls crop their ears because sometimes their natural ears are uneven and lopsided, so they crop them to make them even.

Don't tell me, are you against spaying and neutering too?

Because it seems in general an APBT or Amstaff with a good crop does better in the show ring than one that isn't cropped.

Please correct me if I am wrong. But from what I understand that does seem to be the case.

And please forgive me but I can't keep my mouth shut anymore:
Hotchkiss we get it you are against cropping and that is great. No one is telling you to go out and get your dogs ears cropped, you are against it so don't do it. But what gives you the right to come in here and tell responsible APBT owners that just because they crop their dogs ears they are trash that don't give a shit about their dogs? Especially when this here is a group of people who are responsible owners and care greatly for their dogs.

If you don't like the idea of Ear Cropping, that's great, don't do it. But there is no need to be rude, or accusing, or result to name calling. No one is telling you what to do with your dog, no one is judging you for what you do with your dog. So please don't come on here and tell others what to do with their dog and please don't judge others for the choices they make with their dogs. Especially when it is causing the dog no harm and the dog is in a loving happy home.

Crop your dog ears. Hell, I don't give a damn. On video, I've seen your dog run. I don't give a damn what you do with your dog. It's nuts about running. You're a little nuts about your pit. You dog isn't the one hooked to a chain 168 hours a week.

You're right. It gives me no right. It's not like I love my dogs anymore than someone else loves theirs. But, I think we talk about what is best for the breed here.

GWRIeEQp 11-15-2011 03:28 AM

I don't even think Hotchkiss HAS any dogs.

How is not cropping what is best for the BREED? I can understand the logic in your head that makes you think it is better for a dog as an individual, but how so for the breed?

I agree 100%.

Hotchkiss, PLENTY of people that work their dogs, crop ears. As did many old timers that matched their dogs. Where do you come up with this mess? Do not presume to judge people that crop their dogs ears. I am in no way a yuppie, or a gangster, yet my dogs ears are cropped. Why? I like the look.

emuffette 11-15-2011 03:34 AM

I don't know. I just think it's better when you can raise two pits together and scold them when they fight and tough them when they're wrong than when you have to separate them and make them enemies in the long run.

GDRussiayear 12-11-2011 07:27 AM

It's all a matter of your personal preference. Can you post a pic?

KitRittyTug 12-11-2011 01:05 PM

Hello and welcome to PBC!
I feel your post will get much more helpful responses in the general dog discussions forum,so I moved your posting for you.

emuffette 12-11-2011 02:07 PM

How about the style where you don't.

Ankeseiband 12-11-2011 05:38 PM

A crop like Chloesredboy stated is a matter of personal opinion. There are many different styles. Here is a photo that might help you decide.

Also this thread has a lot of members dogs with their ears done that you can see the different style on the dog.
Which crop style do you prefer?

With any style you chose, picking a proper vet is very important. Please research the vet well before having your dogs ears done. And read up on proper care after the crop is done.

My 3 year old male has a Show Crop which is slightly longer.

I think this is an odd thing to post for your first post lol.
1. you don't have a "blue" pit. there is not a specific crop that looks good on a blue American Pit Bull Terrier... assuming that's what you meant by blue pit. It's all a mattter of personal preference really, the chart about is great.
2. how old is your dog, and can you post a picture. some crops, to me personally, look better or worse depending on their head size lol... i don't like dogs with small head/long crop or show crop. I'm usually a fan of short crop. a dog with a huge block head to me looks a li'l redic with anything shorter than a short crop.

Good luck and welcome!
