My mutt has taken to waking me up with a face wash. I'm home alone at the moment & just after sunrise every morning she will sit on the bed & if i don't move she licks me frantically. If I ignore her she will pause & then bark at point blank range. I have only let this happen once, took most of the day to get the ringing out of my ear. This is new behaviour, just since my GF has left.
I think she now thinks she is my GF & has started nagging me lol. The dog is also sticking a lot closer to me, it's hard to move without my little shadow.

Going to be interesting when my better half gets home.

Today I was informed by a friend of my dad in law..that the fact that Slayer licks my hands means even though she follows commands she doesn't respect me as her leader and that dogs only lick people they see as below them as a sign of nurturing. WTF?

Right? LOL. That is so silly. My hands are always washed LOL..have a disabled toddler in the house so often times you have to take extra care he doesnt get ill. She never insistantly licks me. Just if i give her a command and pet her afterwards she licks my hands.

depending on the situation.. if she continusly (sp?) licks with a lil bit of force .. Yeah it can be a sign on dominance.. doesnt mean that every time a dog licks someone that it IS dominate behav. People are always extremest. Really depends on the lick .. i know that sounds silly..LOL

For whatever reason my girl HATES my ex.. (whom i still live with) and he thinks its so cute when she licks him.. she will lick him and lick him and lick him... but its kind of a forceful lick...like 'bitch, i own you' kinda lick..
Some dogs are just lickers... Does NOT mean they are dominate... no wonder some ppls pets are all screwed up...LOL..

but in my case.. My girl IS dominate.. and that is one of her things..
