Default I have to put Star down I'm very sad to say
We had an incident with star and the chihuahua yesterday. I didn't force my opinion of separation hard enough on my house mates well they let them out unsupervised yesterday. I'm not looking for sympathy on that part. That was my fault for being a wuss and forcing people to listen to me of course people don't think I know what I'm talking about and don't listen. Anyway she didn't want Star at the house so I put in a largish kennel at the shop for the night to rehome him. I'm getting a new job too where I can't take him so I thought it would be best to re home him

the problem is though he started snarling growling and hitting at the kennel at everyone including people he knew that oases him. He was showing teeth and everything. At least thats what my boss said so I hope he isn't lying. But after that and knowing his history of fa and being highly territorial, I think it's best for him to be put down. I got a friend who will so it for me. The kennel is at least 10x10 Feet. Unless you think I'm wrong but I thinknits best for me Star and the breed as much as it hurts me

=\ this is probably for the best flatbedder. Have you considered calling a behaviorist first? Remember you did not witness stars reaction to the other people.
Just do what you find best

No I didn't call a behaviourist. I mean I'm
not doing well at work money wise just for now. He's been in that kennel alone before and has never acted that way. Maybe I just didn't train him enough but he was doing so well. He was very friendly to people outside the truck and everything

Do not take others opinions about how he reacts, you know your dog best, I really hope these people are being ignorant at most and not just wanting to see you put your boy down. I have read many of your posts about Star, and while he does seem territorial, I don't think that's a 'PTS' offense. If his FA is not manageable, then perhaps it would be best, but still.. something just hits me as 'off' here. The poster above me makes some very valid points. I hope there is another option for you and Star, after YOU see how your dog is, I know you well enough from your posts to say I know whatever decision you make will be the right one for you both.

I would hate for Star to be PTS if your boss was lying. But if there's nothing else you can do, then you don't really have a choice. Sorry for what you're going through.

He could have been very scared. Who knows. When push comes to shove its your decision to make. Regardless due to your work situation rehoming is an option...but with fa or ha pts is the best bet

I would not put him to sleep without seeing the behavior myself, for all you know, Star was barking at people in excitement. The average Joe thinks a dog barking is aggression.

How old is Star?

Also...did you tell your boss what happened with the chi?? That could make anything seem like aggression,..

Euthanize Star because he had an incident w/another dog? Euthanize Star because your Boss, or sounds to be soon Ex-Boss, says he was growling????? This makes no since to me. Are you trying to say Star is HA? There has got to be more to this story or why on earth would you ever consider Euthanizing Star for those 2 reasons?

Don't take other peoples opinions when it comes to something as serious as puting down your dog. They don't know your dog you do. Now leeme get this clear you can't have Star in the house cause of the chi? Why can't y'all just crate and rotate or something? How long has Star been in the pen at your job?

I'm saying what the bosses said what happened. From what I've seen today, it wasn't quite like they described but I was in the background. See when I first got him I left him here In the office and walked to the store. He got loose from the office and they couldn't get him. Snarling and growling and almost bit my boss, but I took that he was scared and was cornered. Not putting him down over the dog aggression. What I saw was ears back, barking, and think I heard a growl he seemed to not want you to put their hands by him. I don't know what to do? He needs a new home but he has a history of fa and now this so...

---------- Post added at 12:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:17 PM ----------

Just for the night last night. I stopped by and he seemed fine. If you think it's ok for me to rehome him after that then I'll try to find him a home.

This is what I'm getting out of your post:

You have a new job and you can't take Star with you. You also can't leave Star at home because after refusing to consider any sort of actual responsible management your housemate has decided that he/she doesn't want Star there period. So you are wondering "what to do with the dog"? You mentioned re-home; but you know Star has some issues and now that on top of your boss's (dubious at best) reports...you are thinking you should have Star PTS.

Here's my take on it. I would have to see Star's behavior first hand to make any sort of assessment about aggression. I would not euthanize my dog over someone else's impression of behavior that I did not personally see. Star is a sensitive dog with fear issues, away from home, stuck in a kennel...a new and scary experience...I would expect him to be totally freaked out.

Honestly if I were you I would try to buy myself some time to either find another job where you can take Star with you (I'm ssuming you have a CDL) or another place to stay; and then take my time spending time with and assessing my own dog and making my own decisions.

In your current situation; are you just crashing at someone else's house or are you on the lease? Either way; your housemates cannot simply dictate that your dog goes and you stay and continue to pay rent. I would tell them I am looking for an alternate living situation and in the meantime, my dog stays with me and we crate and rotate like a bunch or responsable adults.

And grow a backbone. I don't mean that harshly, but stop looking for other people's approval. If you have a gut instinct about a certain situation or feel you have done your research and know what is best..then stick to your guns. If other people don't agree with you...tell them (as my dearly departed Dad used to say) to "go take a flying fuck off a rolling donut".

For an FYI

Ears back/barking/growling with or without attempts to bite could be fear related behaviour, esspecially with crouchy body, raised hackles, darting gaze/limited/no eye contact, low carriage and tucky tail. The body language of a aggressive dog would be....Ears erect/locking eyes, body stiff, snarl and or attempts to bite.Tail would be erect/straight back and stiff.Hackles would be up.Tall stance.Rigid gait.

I cannot tell you what to do for your dog.I feel sad you are in this position with him.If you personally feel it's best to PTS,then I wouldn't protest it.I wouldn't listen to this boss,or his buddies-only what YOU witness and how YOU feel it is best for the dog.

^^ This.
You said Star has had FA issues in the past the attack on the chi + your reaction + your housemates reaction could have scared the crap out of him. he doesnt understand whats going on. he was left alone in a kennel all night in what seems to be a strange place...surrounded by strange people, Wouldnt you be scared?
I dont even think Star needs to be rehomed. i think he needs to be with you since you know him and his behavior right now.

I did find him a home. He's going out with another driver but he is used to riding. They made it out a lot worse I think. He's a damn good dog and I'm glad I found someone who wanted him. I filled them in on him too. So i'm going to miss him but at least he'll be happy. I told them
they can't leave their other dogs and cats together unsupervised and they agreed to seperate. I said I don't know if thell get along with the cats and I said when he's home you might have to put the cats up. So I didn't let him go without notice. I would have liked more time but this was. All of a sudden because of poor decisions humans made

I'm really sorry FB, but I'm glad you found him a new owner!
That's really shitty though, your boss making him out to be some sort of vicious beast.
