No im not front to start a fight. Actually just trying to understand. Ive always wanted a real APBT prebred with good lines etc (howevr you may call it) in fact that's what my plan was going to be until my boyfriend found willow behind a dumster at his job. From what I've heard and other people have told me she looks like the real deal...but I know without papers its crap. Im starting to think now she may actually be a bit american bully and even though im not a fan of themdl if my friend wanted to trade dogs...I could never do it regardless of the dogs lineage. Idk I guess its different for me because I wasn't lied to really? (And trust me I threaten to take both my dogs back to where they came when they are being bad lol)

Ps chloesredboy everyone I hear the word "trade" or something to that effect I immediatly think of craigslist (you know oooh give me your ps3 and ill give you my purebread bluenose pitbull who isn't neutered so you can even use him for studding!) Which gives me the heebie jeebies.

My concern would be that you didn't know enough about the breed to find an actual APBT in the first place. If you don't know how to find one, I'm concerned about if you would know how to handle one.

What have you learned about the breed since finding out that this pup wasn't an APBT?

Alex....How old was your pup when you got him? I know for a fact that sometimes it is very hard to tell APBT pups from AmBully pups if there are Classics so that is not always the case guys.

Here would be my questions....
Have you ever own an APBT?
What Blood lines are you interested in?
How much research have you done on the history of the breed?
Do you understand that most all APBT are DA and pray driven?
How do you plan on containing the dog?
How do you plan on containing the dog when you are away?
Do you live where APBT are allowed?
What do you plan on doing with the dog...show, weight pull, catch dog ex?
Why does the dog have to be well bred?
What do you consider well bred?
Just a few question, expect a lot more then that if you are going to be buying from a good breeder.

i agree 100% JS. theres members on this thread who thought they were getting an APBT and ended up with an AM Bully. just cuz you accepted it and became a bully fan doesnt mean Alex has to. he wants what he wants, and as long as he homes the bully with a good owner, i have absolutely no problem with his decision.

he NEEDS to stay on the board, get to know a few people and show hes willing to learn, and im sure somebody will steer him in the right direction. theres plenty of nice APBT litters out there, but unfortunately theres a shortage of good potential owners. dont be afraid to ask questions, use the breeder discussion section for advice, and you will find a good dog Alex. guaranteed

I'm not knocking alex123 at all. I just thought Tiffseagles had a good point. If that's what he wants to do more power to him.

I'm no expert at all. I've helped raise/train or lived with either an apbt, staffy, or ambully for close to 10 years before I rescued my current Ambully. I don't think it's necessary to wait that long but I'm glad I knew what I knew before I got a bully breed. Otherwise I could've probably been one of those guys bringing a "pitbull" to the dog park. The more knowledgeable bully breed owners the less BSL.

I realize everyone has to start somewhere. I think a good place to start is to learn everything you possibly can about the breed your interested in for a while before you pull the trigger and get any breed or dog. I knew exactly what I got when I got my dog pulled from the shelter; which certainly isn't an apbt. I also enjoy learning about all the bully breeds and learning about their history but I'm far from an expert on the topic and I've never claimed to be. I think it's great that he's trying to learn and this forum has tons of great info and knowledge to learn from. That's why I'm here.

I see some pretty brutal responses to questions on this forum from time to time and I honestly thought Tiffseagles response was pretty mild and well said. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I can vouch for Alex on him getting dooped on the pup, I asked to see pictures of the parents because our pups look alike, and when I saw them I told him it was AmBully not APBT.

Then he looked up the pedigree and sure enough, they were AmBullies.

You in KY though, I think there should be a lot of great well bred "farm typed" APBT out there, I wish we had stuff like that in AZ, we have nothing but stupid RE dogs right now..

Alex go to this upcoming show in north Carolina meet some people there will be some real dogs and dog people out there it will be an awesome show. Now with that said yes people are very touchy about who they associate with because there are people out here who want to harm the breed in anyway they can, so these people have to be careful who they associate with, but if you go an makes some contacts meet some people and prove to them that your going value and help the breed and you really want to be a part of this great breed and help to better it, then these wonderful people will take you in and you will be able to get you a well bred animal that's the best suggestion I could give you. It's a great time and alot of good people out there I know there are going to be alot of people from here going to be there so come out and associate meet some people and see some nice dogs.

I don't get it. If you're so well-educated on APBTs, then why are you asking for help? If you know what to look for, and what you're wanting to accomplish with the dog...then you shouldn't have that hard of a time finding the right breeder.

If you knew you wanted an APBT, and knew SO much about the breed...you would have researched your pup's parent's bloodlines BEFORE purchasing the dog, especially since you're wanting to participate in showing and weight pulling. It just makes no sense.
It's fine if you want to get an APBT and show/weight pull, but admit you didn't do your research...admit you aren't that experienced...and then ask for help. Don't expect to get shit if you're going to be a know-it-all.
