No puppies yet, her temp was down to 99.2 last night but I didn't have time to check it before work this morning. My husband is taking her to the vet today.

She just got back from the vet and they said that she actually is early in the pregnancy and they recommended we do a spay/abort because of her age and health so that is what we are going to do. It doesn't make sense to bring another litter of pit bull mix puppies into the world when only 1 in 800 pit bulls find a home. The only reason we were going to let her have them was because we thought she was going to have them before we could spay her. As we suspected, they think she has had numerous litters. They said she had puppies on her last heat as well. My husband said she did great at the vet and wasn't scared.

That is great you're able to spay/abort her. I hope the spay goes well for her.

You have no idea....we have gone through almost 2 trash bags of towels cleaning up explosions. People were also feeding her all sorts of people food. As of yesterday, her stool is finally solid!

The sooner she can gain some weight, find a new home and not have to worry about babies any more,.. the better.

Is there any chance that she had babies stashed away somewhere ( with those bewbies being so full) and was hit up on her (what do they call it in the dog world?) it is a foal heat in the horse, when the mare goes into heat after the foal is born. lol

The vet said she actually didn't have any milk and she hasn't had puppies recently.

Just wondering... this is a odd question.... you thought you felt puppies moving in her, was it just gas? and that's not sarcasm.
I'm glad she can do a spay. Who knows who the dads are....
Good Luck!!! Sending good vibes girly dog

LOL that thought definitely crossed my mind because I swear I could feel movement and so did my husband. She did have absolutely horrible smelling farts, after we got her, we drove home literally with our heads out the windows. I'm also wandering why she had a bloody/yellowish discharge. It was only a few drops but still abnormal. I guess we'll find out more when we spay her. If the clinic isn't busy, I'll get to watch the surgery. I'm interested to see what everything looks like since I've never seen a bitch in this kind of shape. I'm still in shock that she isn't in her 3rd trimester. I would have bet money that we were going to have puppies by Tuesday. I can't say I'm not relieved, as horrible as that sounds. Despite how exciting it is, it's so much work. I swore I'd never take in a bitch again about to have babies after the last one. I didn't get any sleep the first few weeks since the puppies were sick and I had to administer, fluids, meds, and/or supplements every few hours. After all that work, only 3 survived, it was heartbreaking.

Yay! Puppies would have been exciting but knowing there will not be 6-7 more babies born homeless is even more exciting!

when they do the spay/abortion, if any of the pups are able to breath on their own, will they save it? all of the spay/abortions i've ever witnessed were very very early in the pregnancy.

had i know they did this in dogs back in the day i would have done that with tweek when she got knocked up. but i didnt find out til yrs later that was even possible lol

The vet said she was not close to having the puppies, so I don't think we have to worry about that. At the clinic I work at, we give the unborn puppies euthasol through the uterus after the vet removes it if the bitch was in the 3rd trimester.
