Default anyone from indiana.....
is there anyone on here from around southern indiana or close to it that knows were to find a reputable breeder reasonably close? cuz i FINALLY got a job, and if all goes well im gonna be saving up and looking for a ABPT... id like to find somethin close enough that i can drive and possible meet the breeder and the puppies parents, but at the same time im not trying to pay a rediculous amount of money either! (im hopin nothing like $1000 or over at the same time, unless you all think thats what id have to pay to find something good!) i want to go to a breeder as opposed to adoption because id like to have a little history on the parents and hopefully get into conformation or weight pull or something like that...

I live in Mt. Carmel IL (if you don't know, that about 11 miles from Princeton) and I have researched breeders around here and have had no luck so I went with Caring paws animal Rescue out of Evansville, they might not have parent history but they do hand raise a lot of "pitbulls" from days old, I got my boy from them and he has a nice solid temperament. Just a thought if you can't have any luck, I did not look that hard.

yea, I know it will be tough getting any rescue to adopt out to a person without a fenced in yard, caring paws did not do a home visit though so you could just say you have one...or that the dog will be strictly inside with only on leash outside walks and long leash for play and such. If you want to get a dog from an oops litter (hard to weed out the bybs but if you can) you can try kijiji for Evansville area, sometimes they have pitbull puppies for free from oops litters on there, I would go and look at the parents and ask a million and one questions though. I got my pit/gsd mix from an oops litter add at Lawrensville wal-mart (where my fiance works), parents were on sight and in great condition, good temperament. Also could look at the vet, my vet's office has a bored people can post things on and last week they had ukc registered boxers, I know it was not a breeder, but heck it was a dog that was getting vet care during pregnancy so at least it was owners totally in it for the money.

wow I rambled...sorry for the rambling, was working 8-5 today and its now like 11pm or something so been up to long I think >.<

They're more Am. Staff blood than anything, but if you like this style, they're GREAT dogs:
JOHNSONS KENNEL | home to top-notch akc american staffordshire terriers & ukc american pit bull terriers

This is where I'm getting my pup from. Pups are 3 weeks old. Both females are claimed, but I don't know about the males. You'd have to ask her for prices on the males, though.

She's in Southern Illinois. We're actually staying with relatives near Indianapolis when we go in August to get our pup. Good luck! and the breeder, Amy, can probably point you in a good direction for some great UKC APBTs in the region.

they don't look bad, I actually bookmarked them, that is the 1st one around me that looks ok lol, I did not look that hard though but most around me look like BYB that I have looked into. Those ones there actually weight pull so heck if I ever actually get a dog from a breeder maybe I would go with them, how much are you paying for the female if you don't mind me asking.

I'm co-owning for $600... so you do pay out the @$$ for the dogs, but I'll be doing a lot with her. With the co-own, she's mine after I title and health test her, and the breeder gets 2nd pick of the pups, if she has any. I don't know if she'd do a co own on a male, but you could wait for another litter, too. This litter is out of Star, and it's her 2nd and last litter. Amy and Tim are very good at what they do, and from what I've seen, very responsible. They're quite busy, but if you don't see something through their links page, email them and ask for a recommendation.

well i found some adorable puppies... no papers tho (i dont think) its just as guy that my boyfriend knows... he has beautiful dogs and they are wonderful dogs from what i hear, they are blue, and im gonna try to find out all the info i can on them... just the downfall, they are ready right now and i wont have money for a couple weeks probly, and now we are keeping a snake at our house for a friend and my cat has discovered it and sadly i have my hands full with tryin to keep that damn cat from gettin into the aquarium!!! we shouldnt be keepin it too long tho so thats good! well i just thought id share that and if i find out more on them ill keep you updated!!! ahhh, but if it doesnt work out i wont try to let myself give into temptation again and go for somethin other than what i am lookin for! i just see these as a good pet, i can meet the puppies parents, and if it doesnt work out i know they will safely be able to go back to him and stay there or find another good home!

Don't jump into something you'll regret.. remember: poorly bred or structured pups are going to pay for it down the line. I have 2. I'm making sure the pup I'm getting in August won't suffer its entire life from preventable problems.

i hope you get your hearts desire!

Puppy fever is the worst!! Good luck with your search, and don't rule out a shelter dog... some of the best dogs I've had have come from shelters. Bella, my brindle pup, is a rescue that I adopted last year. She's the best dog, very smart, and looks full blooded. She's been super easy to train, and I can't imagine life without her.... all thanks to someone dumping her. I've had many shelter dogs/rescues, and they have all been great dogs! I've never had a bad dog, and all but 2 of them have been adopted/rescued. Matter of fact, they are such great dogs, that all my future dogs will be rescues.... no papers, no peds, and no one wants to steal a "mutt", but to me, they are all priceless!!

thanks me too!! of course this is mostly my eagerness talking!! because when it comes down to it i want to know about wether or not they do or dont have papers, (idk because someone told me they do but the bf didnt think they do, so who knows!) more info on the parents:their health, ages, look at them in person for myself and same with the pups, have the one, if i do pick out one looked over by the vet and make sure they have their shots and everything! right now my brain is too scattered with excitement, but this happened a few months ago, and when it came down to it i asked a billion questions and things to me sounded sketchy and i turned my attention back to my searching for something better!

Come to some shows and talk to people, thats the best way to find a good show/pull pup. There's one in Fox Valley, IL on Aug 14-15 and Frankfort, IN on Sept 4-5. There's always quite a few members at these shows. Just don't rush into anything, if you really want to compete, its worth the wait.
