Default Pit Weight
I stopped by a Banfields Vet Clinic today to get info on their programs & they let me weight Butters. She is now 14 weeks & weighs 13.8 lbs. Is this normal? Also, can anyone tell me if they have used Banfields before or can any of my IL people recommend some good vets in our area? Thanks in advance....

if you lived way south in IL I could recommend a great vet >.< the Banfield I used for about 6 months screwed me over big time, giving shots before asking me and such to my fiances dog, costing us a lot of cash, but I know not all are like that. I like the vet I go to now, its one of those little hole in the wall vets with 3 exam rooms, and a great staff. They are hard to find in larger cities I think, but I got lucky with this one, they do not over price. I would just look around and find one you like, see if you can talk to the vets that work at each place before you pay any money, you don't want an anti-pit vet (there are more than a few out there) good luck, I hope someone on here lives closer than I and has a good suggestion.

Are you concerned about your "pitbull" weight? WHen you sya "pit weight" it means the weight of the dog that he/she will be matched in the [].

I want a hole in the wall vet. And yes your girl sounds like she's at a good weight. Good luck with her.

At first it threw me off too RM but reading it doesn't have anything to do with pit weight.

I mean her weight not the weight shes gonna be matching, btw what is that? Like weightlifting or pulling for dogs? I know a guy that lives by me who has his 11mo old pit pull a car tire to strenghten his muscles is that the same thing?

I believe rabies shots are usually done around 6months.

Nope, 16 weeks for the rabies. Your neighbor shouldn't have an 11 month old pulling ANYTHING yet because it's still growing and he can damage his dog.

19 lbs at 14 weeks sounds like she's an Am Bully.

Lily got her rabies at 22 weeks, but my vet likes to spread out the vaccines, so it's possible she could've gotten it earlier.

Goren was 20 lbs at 14 weeks and he is no where near a bully, but he is a big boy and a mix (I still vote he has great dane in him lol) Lola was 6.7 lbs at 7 weeks btw, (my GSD/AST cross puppy, she is 9 weeks today) I do think 19 lbs is large for a female but you never know how growth spurts go. I hope that vet you check out is ganna rock, glad you were able to find one that you can go see, its kinda like shopping around for a car, you want the best quality vet for you dog to protect it for life, like you want the best safety rating for the price you pay.

Yeah, he's tiny, do you know his ped?

You're right Ellie, I just thought from her name bluelover and the size of her female she might know if she's an Am Bully or not.

We adopted Bella at about 3 and a half months, and she weighed 23 lbs. She is about 18 months old now, and weighs 73 lbs. I have no idea what she is mixed with, so there's no way to what "size" she should be... Do you have any pictures?

Shots start as soon as you bring them home. Parvo is a very deadly, highly contagious disease and can spread like a wild fire. Go ahead and make him an appointment to get him in as soon as you can, and don't take him anywhere where he might come into contact with any other dogs until after he has gotten all his puppy shots. Around here, it's a series of 3 shots.
