So I'm about to go on vacation. The place we are staying allows pets anyway. I can still add her to the reservation. Being that she has never been without another dog and is now the only dog. Would it really be smart to board her and leave her for a few days? Or should I just take her with us? I'm not sure how my husband feels about that one yet, but I'd hate to leave her in a cage alone for a few days. Maybe its more for my comfort than hers but what are your thoughts. I'm scared I'm going to get to our destination and worry about her the whole time. Even though this pet resort is wonderful. What would you do? She will have only been an only dog for a little over a week. Then again traveling with dogs isn't always easy, but then again we only have 1 now and she is super good. But then again we have a 3 month old and we've never traveled with her yet. What do you suggest?
The place she would be staying is nice, they have indoor/out door runs. They get 15 minutes 4 times a day of offleash play time in the little yard outside their run. Individual playtime. They get a hour long walk for an extra 2 dollars. Thanks |

Losing our Trouble didn't affect me very well. We lost him so suddenly. I guess deep down I'm scared that if we leave her I'll come back and she will have gotten sick or worse. Or she won't have been taken care of and she will be a wreck. I'm so scared I'm going to lose her which is totally irrational because she is a very healthy dog. But I guess Trouble made me see just how fragile life is.

Yeah here is the thing, its usually just the opposite with us. Depending on the kind of trip. Where we are going you can't leave the dog in the hotel unattended. If you leave the dog has to leave, state law. You can't even leave the dog in the room to go to the pool. Therefore we really can't do anything but outdoor activities. Only one of us can go in a shop at a time. Other has to stay outside or in the car with the dog. We can't go to the aquarium or other area attractions, which we already bought tickets for, we can't go out to eat. We are pretty much confined to walking around and staying in the hotel room. Which was fine when we did the trip special for the dogs but we have so many plans already. I wish we were doing the beach now and this one later. If we were going to the beach now it wouldn't be a big deal because we stay in a house and/or condo. I want to take her with us because I don't want to leave her at a time like this, but I also know how much money we've put into this trip and how long we have been looking forward to it. So I know my husband probably won't go for letting her come. And I'd probably get up there and regret bringing her. Not to mention there is no room in our small car for all of us and bags and her stuff.
But I don't want to leave her but this is our daughters first vacation and we centered it around going to the aquarium. She likes to watch the fish. I just feel so torn over this. |

Looks like she is staying behind this time. Since we already had so much planned on this trip. My husband said she can go to the beach with us in the fall and back to the mountains in the winter. So I guess that is a compromise. She is an easy dog to travel with and if we had been staying in a cabin we could have taken her and left her at the cabin no problem but since we are staying in a hotel we decided against taking her. I'm going to worry sick about her the whole time. Thank Goodness its only 2 days. And those two days won't come fast enough. I have so much to do before we go but you know how you get right up on a trip and the days seem to just drag?
