Default Peta trying to kill show dogs?
The lady posting is reliable, she's a reputable breeder, she shows and works her dogs. This is sick.

My friend sent me this. Beware. - German Shepherd Dog Forums
There are nutcases out there.

At the shows in Belleville, Illinois, last weekend, PETA terrorists put
antifreeze in water dishes when
dogs were out being shown. The handlers noticed the pink color (they
said it
looked like Kool-Aid) and changed the water, discovering by the odd
smell
what it was. It was announced over the loudspeaker to not put your
dogs into
their crates without checking water dishes first. Lots of people
immediately
took their dogs out and locked them in motor homes.

In the future...do not leave your crates unguarded at shows...you
never know
when or where the PETA freaks will turn up.

. This is what they consider Ethical Treatment of Animals--the sick
freaks.

I first heard this from a friend who was there showing...now the news is
making the rounds. Please pass the word and make
sure all your dog show friends know about it.

I am absolutely NO friend of PETA's , but I'm on another forum that has been talking about this incident. There isn't a single first-hand report, police report, ANYTHING to substantiate this. Nothing.

Inaccurate and skewed reporting is killing pit bulls. Let's not wrongfully slander another group. (Especially when there are ample other true and verified points of attack!)

I agree...I received the same email a few days ago, but it had a disclaimer that there was not proof that this was or was not PeTA.

On the other forum, no one could identify what dog show was involved? Does anyone know where this event is said to have taken place?

I tried to look it up, but all I can find are the forums that talked about it, not an original story.

I may just lack the skills to find it though!

On yet another website, I read that it was confirmed that an announcement had gone across the loudspeakers at the show warning owners. However, no one can say whether it WAS PETA or some other activism groups. PETA, I don't think, has made a comment. They must be too busy celebrating the multi-million dollar donation Bob Barker gave them for their new headquarters.

Sounds a lot like an urban legend to me, is all I'm saying. It's always the same: someone read or someone's friend saw/heard/witnessed, but never the actual parties involved telling the story.

so many people dont know what PETA is really about... if i knew how to do it i would, but i think since so many people use facebook someone needs to make one of those pages you become a fan of and put some truths about PETA and HSUS... if someone does definately send it to me and i will send it to all my friends on there to get the word out... just an idea

I am trying to find the website I ran across this morning, and while I know the media lies at times, too or at least don't verify their sources, this particular news article said, "announcement had been verified."

Poisoned put a "?" behind the information as they were not there and were merely passing around a "hey did you guys hear anything about this?"

I don't think PETA would kill dogs at dog shows, but who knows? They could kill them and then blame it on the dogs saying "dog shows are evil. They kill dogs."

When doing more digging, one forum moderator took this stance on the post:

We have members here of all sorts of different groups and we will not allow them to be denigrated or labeled.

The group of which you are speaking [PETA] does not in any way support that which you are describing. In fact, it has been said that these may be 1) mere rumors which are invented to create anti-animal-welfare momentum and/or 2) indeed true, but are done BY the very groups who claim someone else is responsible, again to create anti-animal-welfare momentum.

Either way, this thread is closed - unless you have video footage that shows us a verifiable person from a certain organization who is adding a chemical to this water. If you do, please PM us and we will review re-opening this type of thread. Thank you.

Edited to add: please also provide us the police report, and the lab who tested the water that confirmed the presence of anti-freeze. Also, just want to add this rumor has been circulating for, what, 3-4 years now...? I think this is its 4th time 'round now, here at YT.
