Default Foster dog how could you?!
I thought you were so cute, well behaved, smart...always giving me kisses warming my husband's foster hating heart. Every day when you would come in from your backyard romper party with my dogs you would lick my hands and snuggle your head in my palms. Then my adoration turned to horror this morning. I let you out and because youre a fatty who would eat paint off the wall if you had the chance so as usual you took a huge steaming poop, but this time was very different! This time, to my horror you promptly ATE THE WHOLE THING WHAT THE?! THE WHOLE TIME I THOUGHT YOUR BREATH SMELLED BECAUSE YOUR TEETH WERE GROSS! dang dog, dont come looking to me for kisses

Doesn't that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside!

Off to go hug my dogs (since I KNOW they don't eat their poop)

Ew. My newest ate his poop yesterday. then waited till we were 10 seconds from home to throw up all over my car AND the other dog in the car!! It smells so bad and my whole car is covered from the other trying to escape him. launching herself between the window and seat. No kisses for me thanks.

Hoss will eat his own poop too if we aren't watchful and pick it up or call him away from it immediately.

I don't let him lick my face because even if he hasn't eaten any recently, I still can't stand the thought of the fact that he HAS eaten it, lmao!

You know youre a dog freak when you dont even flinch at one dog vomiting and another eating it! My one dog always eats too fast and throws up, soemtimes she eats it sometimes he does.
Is it sad I dont even think them throwing up and eating it is gross because it usually isnt digested...steamy poop...a WHOLE different ball game to me at least

Ewww.

I've never had a dog that ate dog poop.

Goose poop yes; but that's understandable. That's a delicacy.

Dog poop is just...pedestrian.

Our little dog did this as a pup :barf: I spent a fortune on tablets you put in his food to stop the behavior but it took 2 years of training to get him to stop.

Seriously I think it is common when you change the food with dogs. When I first got cruz I had a poop eater. Once his digestion system calmed down, he stopped eating it... thank god!

Well,at least he's not stealing the cat's poop out of it's litter box and running off to the corner to try to eat it.

That is disgusting isn’t it! I’ve read up on the subject because my foster (now adopted) DID the same disgusting thing! I think she was beat for having accidents but I suppose she may have developed a very nasty habit from cleaning up after her many litters or simply it was tasty (gross, yuck!!!!)? From what I’ve read, it’s not uncommon at all—a good 50% apparently have this nasty habit. I can tell you that it definitely was not from lack of nutrients because I’ve been feeding her and my pup top rated foods (Nature’s Variety, Natural Bal, Taste of the Wild, Wellness). I haven’t caught her doing it since I began putting either canned pumpkin or crushed pineapple in their food. I alternate…I think it may be more effective that way. I guess it tastes nasty afterwards! Don’t ask me how they discovered that or how they know!!! What ever it is…it works!!!

You can slow them down by placing LARGE, clean rocks in the food dish. Then they have to eat around the rocks. Just make sure the rocks are too big to eat. There are also dishes with built in rocks available now.

My pup does the same thing since I started adding more Orijen to his food, but he eats the poo of my room mates EB. I hate it because I have to take him out on leash everytime (its cold), and he snatched a little turd even on leash last night.

the problem is its raw meat, its just that he doesnt chew properly before swallowing...he is a nerd! He has slowed down a little recently now that its winter and we dont go on 4 hour hikes.
