to me there is a difference when roosters fight on the farm and when they are dressed to fight by humans.

Good point about the euth. i dont understand why
Maybe its the diet they put the birds on.

dog tastes good, but seriously the hsus just did a bust in texas on a cockfight, they confiscated 118 gamecocks and will be "euthenizing" them.now these gamecokcs, will naturally fight to kill each other and that is how they were before man got involved with them, you set two of them on a farm, raised from an egg and treat them as you would any other rooster or chicken, and if they get near each other they will fight to the death.anyway these supposedly "cruel" cockfighters are busted with 118 roosters, and the hsus plans to euthenize all of the roosters.give a good explanation why?now in the cockfight there wouldnt be that many that would have died.whose the cruel ones?
yea no offense but two animals put in tight quarters often result in death (rats for example), but HUMANS create these situations so no I dont see anything wrong with euthanizing animals that would otherwise suffer. If humans create issues it doesnt make the issues less serious, it makes them more our fault.

In NYC the cockfighting can be found in the Puerto Rican and Dominican neighborhoods. When I used to work in Bushwick, Brooklyn the old men would break into an abandoned theater and hold huge bouts there, with 100's of spectators. Whenever there was a bust by the ASPCA, there would be paddy wagons full of prisoners resulting from these matches. It's in the Carribean Hispanic culture and it's not gonna stop. Flame me if you will but it doesn't offend me or turn me off. The humaniacs already got Louisiana.

Default Animal Cops: Philadelphia
Wow im watching this right now on Animal Planet. I didnt know how bad dog fighting and rooster fighting was in Philadelphia. The conditions they live in and what they do to these poor dogs is horrible. Makes me want to join the fight and stop it.

Anyone else see this show today? its on till 2pm

yea I cant watch this anymore I cant stand seeing hurt dogs. I have to turn my head even when a dog gets hurt in a movie. I hope the owners of the animals get prosecuted. I lived right where they are a couple yrs ago.

Unfortunately, most metropolitan areas are infested with it.

We even have people drop them off at animal control and tell us they were used as fighters Obviously not the brightest individuals.

It's a major problem!

The same way people can raise a steer up from birth, feeding it daily or having the kids show it in 4-H, and then not blink an eye when they have it slaughtered.

Not everyone views dogs as pets.

There is a difference between what society deems as food and what it deems as pets. In mexico they eat dogs, here we either use them for working or have them as pets. I am pretty sure people would be horrified to see a bunch of what they view as members of their family dead...I dont think thats weird, just as much as I dont think it is weird we don't eat live monkey brains, baby birds, etc. This is what our society has created.

even in societies where they eat dogs there are "slaughter" dogs its actually a different breed of dog that has been bred specially for slaughter, like milk cows and angus beef cattle, they went down a different evolutionary tree than pet dogs (just watched a snibit of Taboo that had it on it about a week or so ago lol)

This has kind of gotten off topic, but I believe we should allow the consumption of dog meat.

Actually, I have a blog on it. lol.

Nope and I have yet to figure out why. I asked but the explanation made absolutely no sense to me.
