Default Boston,MA warning
Hey anyone who lives in Boston! I had my pitbulls there for years (specifically south boston) and yes I know about the BSL and never had a problem until this past year. ANYWAY point is apparently there is a lot of stuff going on right now with the neighborhood so if you have a pittie PLEASE muzzle it and DONT bring it to the carson beach park.

I know everyone has mixed feelings about dog parks well I stopped going because everything was being blamed on my dogs, you live and learn. Within a week some ladies dog bit me and my dog pinned it to get it away from me and it became my dogs fault. The next week some kid claimed my dog attacked him when he waved a ball in his face and my dog jumped up to sniff it -never went back. A cop came to my home and said my dog was a vicious killer and likened them to the guy who shot a bunch of people in the holocaust museum. What did I do about it? I moved but hey not everyone can buy a place outside the city just for their dogs. A few friends werent so fortunate and I guess are paying the price. Apparently some of the people want pitbulls completely out of the neighborhood so they are calling cops on any pitbull esque dog for pretty much anything they can. This is a message I got this morning :
Hi!
Just wondering: are your strong-jowled pits muzzled and leashed when you take them out in public? I'm only asking 'cause, you know, it's the law. While I also realize that you bought your strong-jowled pits to compensate for your myriad relationship/ego shortcomings, if I see them in my neighborhood unmuzzled and unleashed, then they're gone, baby, gone. One phone call is all it takes. "kay? Good. You & your strong-jowled pits have a greeeeaaat day now.

I guess some local businesses have gotten threats and stuff too for allowing pits into their establishments. So just beware and keep your dog safe!

Take that note to your local police station, pronto! It's aggressive and threatening.

I thought about it but I run into the problem of half of the force hating pits and the other half loving them...and one guy asking if I wanted to buy babies because he breeds them . I am waiting to see if they say anything more and build my case...its sad I had to leave my home of 8 years because people are so hateful!

That really sucks.

Luckily, I never wanted to live in any of those places, but seriously, whether the Police like the dogs or not, people can not harass you, so, they'd still have to take harassment seriously.

Take that message to the cops. Tell them you are worried about it because it sounds threatening... even if you aren't. You have to fight back, these people are loonies... Although, you don't let them out off-lead, do you? Just asking
I'd say stick closely to the law and don't let these idiots get you down... Pity THEM. Because they haven't known how wonderful it is to snuggle up with a bulldog at night and sleep knowing that you will wake up to someone who loves you unconditionally, and expects nothing but food and belly rubs.

Areas right around Boston are SUPER pit friendly. I live in an area called Somerville and they are notorious for being dog friendly. I can literally walk to the city in 20 minutes too god forbid I take my dog for a long enough walk Id have to muzzle them! Luckily nobody around here cares, of course you have the occasional idiot that goes "you gonna breed em?" I just have to laugh..yea theyd be cute puppies but theyre mutts who cares?! The city is hit or miss you have a lot of old cops who love them or own them, and the new idiots who just get a hard-on for being hateful authoritarians. To be honest I just feel bad for my friends who live in the city and get shit ALL the time even if their dogs are muzzled . BSL if you ask me is just an attempt to get the breed out of the area, it doesnt take a genius to know if ANY dog is mad enough a piece of plastic won't do shit.

I never let them off lead, the only time I did was when we used to go to dog parks. Now I only let my girl off the leash in the woods because nobody is around and she sticks by me...my male on the other hand hes got a real drive for chasing his tail around trees!

Good lord, some idiot actually talks that way? Our educational system really is in the crapper when someone can write this poorly in a note and claim the intended recipient is compensating for something when the author doesn't even have the balls to face them with their threats.

Interesting how these people are so concerned with the law as it applies to other people but have no qualms whatsoever about breaking it to get their point across. Looks like harassment to me, unfortunately as you've noticed we are increasingly seeing law enforcement personnel who only enforce the laws they agree with or who make a point of singling out the "offenders" if the offense happens to be a pet peeve of theirs.

These people need to stop worrying so much about our dogs, they way some of them behave they should be more concerned about my HA behavior.

I live in Stoughton, MA in a dog friendly neighborhood. As soon as I got Tigger At 8 weeks, I made sure my neighbors got acquainted with him. Now he is 10 1/2 months and everytime I walk him its nothing but smiles and waves.

@Bostonitis: You know of any bully meets/ play dates?

there were some people who would meet up at callahan park in framingham a couple of times this past summer. i'd like to do it again. i try to go in the evenings around dinner time since there aren't a lot of people there.

there's a large open field as well as a lake for the dogs to play in.

A FLIGHT TO BOSTON!!!!!! lol naw all jokes aside!

learn and follow your state laws and of course obey them. if your dog is really harmless then you shouldnt have to worry (unless theres a ban in your county/state). if your following leash laws and doing everything you should then F*(K EM!!!
keep a camera phone wit you and have it ready at all times when ur out with your dog!
that ladys dog that bit you? i woullda let my dog kill it, then told her it should have been on a leash or muzzled. easy as that. she would have learned her lesson!

now you no that dog parks are problems waiting to happen. BUT......
them kids that were wavin shit in front of your dogs? why were they not being watched & controlled? again thats the parents fault and i would have let em have it from the get go. maybe the kid should have been bitten, he woulda learned not to go harassing strange dogs!

anyways i hope all works out for you!
