Default Microchip question
I've had Daisy microchipped for a while now but she hates the tag with her chip number hanging from her collar. She somehow was able to tear it off of her collar and chew it up (it's plastic). My question is... does anyone know if you can possibly get a new one or am I screwed? I swear, she destroys anything she can get her paws on!

I'm sure if you call the company where you got the tag, they will send you another one.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. You can call the registry that you registered her under and see if they can get you one. Boo doesn't wear his. I really wouldn't worry about it.

yep, our Daisy chewed hers off, we ordered another one from 24petwatch for like $8 and this one is metal too, the yellow plastic tags from them that they give you when you get her chipped are like $2 or $3

I got hers from Avid but I would think they have metal ones too, I'll have to call them and see. I know she doesn't have to have it but I feel better when she does... lol.

I use Avid microchips on my dogs, but anyhoo.....for the tag issue.

I am sure you can order another one....but another idea might be getting a metal rivit-on one that attatches flat to the collar, like a name plate. If they dont make one-have one made....Dr fosters and smith has 'name ID plates' that rivit on to the collar and lay flat-and do not dangle, and you might want to consider his chip number and call number to be placed on it(maybe with your info as well).

here's the webpage to check them out.......

Hope this helps.

Avid's metal ones are damned expensive. Lily lost her plastic tag over a year ago and I contacted them to see if there was any way I could get another plastic one as the metal ones are too expensive (like $13... I'm sorry I could make one cheaper myself). They never even contacted me back and that was months ago. I suppose if I feel she really needs a microchip tag I will take her info with me to the petstore and put it on a generic tag. I was very unimpressed with Avid about that, I have to say.

You can contact the company that did the micro chip, and they will send you a replacement tag for about $10. I put Bella's on, then took it off, knowing she would end up eating it. I'm going to go have one made with the numbers engraved with it, but she will destroy that plastic tag, so it's in the medicine cabinet at home for now.

I bought a metal one from 24hourpetwatch and it broke after a couple of months. I suggest putting the pertinent info on one that you can make yourself at Petsmart. They seem to hold out much better.
