Default rude comments
I was just looking around and seen a lot of people on here get rude comments or complaints about their dogs. Maybe its the area but I can honestly say I have NEVER gotten a rude comment or a complaint about my dog, I get a lot of annoying ones, but never rude. The usual comments are

"nice pit, you breeding him?"
"damn that dog would make some nice pups, too bad hes neutered"
"I got a rednose female you interested in breeding that guy?"

or "aww poor thing has to wear a muzzle!"
"I hate this ban, it just punishes sweet dogs like you"

I don't see the discrimination around here an we have a ban! I live in Toronto by the way. Is there anyone else who doesn't get rude comments? and for those that do, where are you from? is there a ban there?

I never really have and ohio is the only state what has bsl statewide in the US. I had one lady tell her kids lets go as I was walking through a parking lot, and her kids were playing on a jungle gym. Maybe they were leaving, but I don't think so. One other lady complimented my dogs and asked "you don't fight them do you". That is about the exent of it. Nothing rude, ever.

I've only really had one person say something stupid. This woman with a baby said, "Pit bulls are mean." I said, "Sometimes, but the ones that are generally have a pretty bad life so I feel sorry for them. Besides, my guy is just a puppy." She responds with, "Yeah, well even puppy pit bulls can bite a babies head off..."

The county over, about 5 miles down the street has had a pitbull ban since 1997, so I do get comments all the time. Usually I see dog owners crossing the street or avoiding my dog, or people with children who walk the other way, or hold their children's hand a little tighter, or people just STARING at me (and my dog). Okay, I get that some people are scared, but don't stop and STARE AT ME!

"yea keep that thing away from me". Some lady talking about her son pitbull turned on him. I told her lady that was your sons fault for beating his own dog. i dam right do believe he was doing it to. i Dam told her why would your dog turn on your son for no reason there had to be a reason i told her the reason was cause i bet your son was beating your dog he just couldnt take it no more. I also had a guy jump the fence when my boy was about 5 months old he said "get your dog i dont mess with pitbulls" im like plz sometimes i just wanna kick there asses. its kind hard to educate people who dont wanna learn.

I've had the full gamut of comments. I've lived in Kingston, Ontario....... Abbotsford, Vancouver and Surrey, B.C. with my dogs and I've had everything from ''How dare you walk that monster in public.'' to some guy offering my ex $2000 for Marz! Vancouver did have a muzzle law when I lived there but I still got the good and the bad comment wise. Surrey used to have a muzzle law here like ten years ago and I've even been told here to muzzle my dogs as most people don't realize the law has been dropped.

I've had many people offer money for my dogs, like I'm just gonna give him up like that! Idiots.. I live in Toronto and I see "pit bulls" all the time, off leash, no muzzles its like nobody even cares about the ban anymore.

Always, I'm too paranoid not to! My dog always wears his muzzle because of DA and just in case, you never know who you will run into.

But a lot of people come up to me and say "I don't care about the law my dogs never wearing a muzzle" or "hes so friendly who cares about the law he won't get in trouble."

I feel bad that he has to wear a muzzle and stay on leash but I'm not willing to take the chance.

Good for you! I'd be the same. I really worry about all my friends dogs back home. Alot of them swear up and down they aren't enforcing it in Kingston, but I just got sent a group add on Facebook for some girl there whose dog is now in shit and she either has to hand him over or move. At least she's been given the option. It's her own damn fault too as she got the dog as a puppy after the ban came into effect.

I agree! Also my dog can get in trouble for something he didn't even do! So why take that chance? All it takes is for another dog to run up to mine and he bites it and there you go, what do I say "my dogs a pitbull and he wasn't wearing a muzzle." there goes my dog. I just think its more safe, even if you have the friendliest dog, shit happens.

Thank God you guys own these dogs, some people would have handed them over in a second for money

I have had a few strange looks and pulling kids out of the side walk, I have had someone say they were shocked at how well he did with those kids, who the parents weren't watching. But never anything like "how dare you walk that dog in public", etc. I think I might flip out it that happens. Most people compliment me on him or just keep their mouths shut I guess.

Ya... that one was directed at Tank and it DID get to me. I hadn't had him that long, and he was SO mishandled by the his two previous owners. He is SO eager to please and had already come leaps and bounds and I was so proud of his progress. We took him out on some trails specifically to work with his reactiveness to other dogs, and he was doing really well, and of course being RESPONSIBLE and knowing what he is capable of AND that other assholes might have their dogs off leash dispite the signs stating dogs had to be leashed, I had him muzzled, because it was the RESPONSIBLE thing to do, yet I was being looked down upon for taking the time to work with him and handle him properly! I was more mad for Tank. He is REALLY sensitive when it comes to people and he could see the anger in this guys face and voice and Tank just lowered his head like he thought he must have done something wrong. It was really cruel IMO.

Oh ya... forgot to say.. I lived in Windsor, Ontario with Venus as well. That was before the Windsor ban, that came before the Ontario ban. Didn't get much in the line of bad comments there.

I get good and bad comments. One guy asked me why I was walking him without a choker. More than one guy asked me to keep my distance from him saying they didn't want to get bit. I told one guy that he doesn't bite and he said ''he got teeth, right?'', and I said ''so do you, do I have to worry about you biting?'', he laughed and said '' you got a point!''. One girl started to walk into the street to avoid us while a car was coming and I had to yell to warn her! Another girl was talking on her cell phone with her back to us and once we passed she yelled ''why you walking that dog so close to me?'' so I said ''you should wear a sign saying 'don't walk near me,i'm crazy!' ''. I could go on more about the negative things but I do get plenty of good comments too. For some reason females and children give us the best comments. Most of them seem to want to pet him and give him love!
