My first ever thread was a thread asking about ear cropping aftercare.
So Guinness recently got his ears cropped. We are following all the instructions from the vet.. I was just wondering if any of you who may of have gone through the process with your pet had any ways to make it a little easier on him. Case in point, what is the best way and place for him to sleep without harming his ears? How did you avoid him running into things? Just very simple questions, I just want to make it a little easier on him. Thank you for your time.

I joined on 10-09-07 and apparently the only thing I posted when I first joined was about our pits up for adoption at P4E (then, the APS of Orange County)! First post:

Meet Redbud, a beautiful Pit Bull/Shiba Inu mix who, unfortunately, has been at our adoption center for probably close to a year now!

None of our staff or volunteers can quite figure out the reason for his long stay with us. One possibility is that his calm nature in his kennel and his so-called plain reddish-brown appearance cause him to be passed by time after time.

However, he is a southern gentleman. Redbud is completely housebroken and does not chew on inappropriate objects; just rawhides. He adores going for walks and getting belly and chest rubs. Superb leash manners! He will lean against your leg to get his head petted. He loves to play with lady dogs (even other pit mixes), but males tend to be a problem -- his only problem! His laid-back nature make him ready to play and chill with you. Redbud charms all who take the time to get to know him!!

Won't you consider him as your next dog (no multi-male households though)?

If you inquire about Mr. Redbud, say you heard about him from the Pit Bull Chat Forum, please. This is our first time trying this media for adoption!

Interested? CALL The APS of Orange County:
(919) 304-2300 ext 221 to speak about Redbud. You must come to our facility to meet Redbud & fill out an application prior to adoption.

My first post was this.

A question about separation anxiety.
Hi there. I am new to this forum, but didn't know who else to go to. Here is my problem. Jersey, my pit bull mix, has developed separation anxiety. She used to go in her crate when we would go to work. One day she decided to chew out of it. A steel crate and she broke to bars and got the door open. After 1000.00 dollars worth of dental surgery we tried again. We made the crate a nice place for her to be, she would go in it when we were home, and sleep most nights in it. After a week or so we decided to try it agian, and low and behold who should meet us at the door in about 1/2 an hour, but Jersey. Thank God she didn't break any teeth this time. I was too scared to put her back in it though because of the peices of steel sticking out. I was afraid that she would catch her skin on it and rip herself to shreds. Okay so then we started leaving her in the house, for short times and that was going fine. No destruction except for one poor remote control. It didn't stand a chance. So now she has started agian. Chewing carpets, and sofa legs. We have a room in the basement that is quite large, but very secure, and we put her in there with all her toys and a bed and so on. We came home and she had tried to claw her way through the door. I don't know what to do anymore.

Other than this she is a fantastic dog. Very well behaved, no aggression of any kind to any dog, she knows basic obedience, and passed her obedience class with flying colours. I should mention that we got her from the pound and I wonder if being closed in makes her remember being there?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have read about the NILIF and am going to start today to really implement it. I will be talking to all members of the family about it tonight at dinner.

By the way, she still hates her kennel, but at least she stays put. We ended up getting one from pet edge that is made from galvanized steel, and although she chews the bars, she has never broken through. Phewf!!!
