not advertised is that the 4WD function will not be engaged for more than 1% of the life of the vehicle.

they don't advertise the fact it's got a jack either...

i agree, but the Red Bull comment is sort of an indirect lie in that it uses the word in a figurative and not literal sense.

I mean selling 4WDs by showing them crashing and bashing through a remote and rugged beautiful desert when buying a 4WD is very unlikely to result in that kind of experience makes it a kind of lie.

Some of them are 2WD, and most are sold with road tyres, not off-road tyres.

Yes, perhaps. But maybe humans are just not adapted to thinking about images in the same way they do about verbal statements. I'd say there's a falseness to that image, and it's a knowing and deliberate falseness.

I would think that humans take more in from the imagery than they do from verbal or written statements...
