Default Changing Attitudes to Animals
Time and place are everything in determining the attitudes of people to (fellow) animals.
The ibis makes a good case study.
Most of the time we seem to discuss creatures in terms of their utility and in my youth ibises were known as "the farmers' friend".

Now they have new reputations and new "uses" .

I'm wondering what other creatures come to other minds.
