Headless(broken screen) laptops for a better future..
G'day Techies,
I'm looking for unwanted headless(broken screen) laptops to run BOINC with Fatdog 64 bit Linux. I have a large solar power array, and I think this would be a great use for clean power running computational projects to improve our future. My location is 40km North of Brisbane, but I spend my weekend and 1/2 of Monday in Nundah(just next to the Toombul shopping center) Please email me to arrange pickup / get more details: maxymail at yahoo dot com IMG_0433 - Copy (Mobile).JPG |
What's a headless laptop?
Edit explains it now. Just get a regular laptop and make the screen saver turn off the power to the screen if you don't want to use it. You'll have trouble finding one that broken how you want otherwise I imagine. |
Just edited original post to explain.. my wireless is on "edge"(very slow - dialup speeds) due to the wet weather.

Thanks, though I think I'll limit the bottom line to P4 or equivalent AMD. Laptops built in the last 5 years would be ideal for processor speed verses energy consumption. How to guide for BOINC on Fatdog64: http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=2203 |

I'm on a small farm that is close to the edge of signal for the two main telcos. My mobile drops out of range a fair bit, and gets worse with rain/ high humidity. The wireless router is on the second storey, and mainly suffers when it is very rainy. Surprisingly a lesser known carrier VF has great signal here, but don't do a $10/month 5GB plan.
Can't wait for the NBN. |
