Certianly it's nice to see 'lurkers' feeling comfortable enough to post. That can only be a good thing.

And forummers who want to lurk while logged on can change their settings to Invisible Mode. You can still post while cloaked, which puts it one up on a Romulan warbird. (Stealth commenting being a major issue in Star Trek.) |
I just burned a whole day's worth of roasting, peeling, sieving fresh tomatoes into puree, on the last reducing step

Not the same, but I've just been picking mouldy bits of grated cheese out of my lunch. Not easy to do as the cheese is melting. I gave up in the end. Now I have burnt fingers and the aftertaste of penicillin. |
We most certainly can, but not what I actually said when I realised. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.png and they wer my very own beautiful little cherry tomatoes too.
At least yours has some good points ... health ones surely ... the smell of burnt tomatoes is not good for anything at all. I fell asleep; came in cold and wet from weeding and slept through the alarm I had set for five b-all minutes ... for 25. oh ... and I have ruined my beautiful BIG non-stick boiler. |
Scrape out the wet stuff, leave the black cake on the bottom and leave the boiler out in the sun for a week or two. (A tip learned from my share housing days when doing the dishes meant throwing them in the back yard and waiting for rain http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.png )
You'll still need some elbow grease but usually the burnt stuff flakes out. A rinse with vinegar helps to remove the burnt smell which tends to linger even after you've got the crud off. It'll never be quite the same, but at least you'll be able to use it. |

I suspect I'm not the only one and there have been plenty of us enjoying the occasional "popcorn thread" without feeling the need to enter the fray. |

Maybe there's a science threa in it! |
My other favourite method involves putting it in a running creek with a couple of handfuls of gravel and sand for a few days.
*Not recommended for cookware you wouldn't take bush* |
See, I think our new forum home is going to be fun http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.png

My charming children have made a feast of my cooking prowess again and reminded me of the Leunig print they gave me when I bought my fantastic saucepan set for travelling in ALF ... detachable handles etc to fit in a small space ... those of you who know my flickr pic will recognise the joke. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.png (here for those who don't already and don't appreciate "in jokes http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.png)) http://www.flickr.com/photos/justjjoke/ I've got over it now ... but will not be doing any more, I can tell you THAT for nothing . |

I DO like the auto saving though; I was forever retyping posts lost while my server was resetting when on the old forum. |

Evening jj and woolly
Question without notice for the honorouble member for Eyre Peninsula. jj tell me about the ferry across the Gulf please, we are thinking of setting off for the west in a month or so and the ferry you mentioned some time ago sounds like a good option, We are not really sure of a firm date yet because mum is having her second hip replacement in early May, I think we will make sure she is OK then head off, I went down and looked after her for a week when she had the last one and my sisters who live within a Km each went on holidays so this time its their turn. I hope. pm me if you dont want to put it in here. |

I have decided to take the evening off, veg out for a while and possibly even go to bed early. |
hello there , no I am happy to respond here ... I have never taken that ferry before, so next week will be a first for me, but many of the people I know have done. It leaves Wallaroo on Yorke Peninsula, so the trip to it goes through some interesting little towns (the old copper mines of Moonta (Cornwall people originally) for example).
It gets in at my old childhood summer home of Lucky Bay, which I haven't seen for oh ... 50 years I would think. In those days it was all just a few corrugated iron and hessian shacks of one or two "rooms" at most ... but a quick google earth look suggests something very different now. It saves something like 3+ hours not having to go north and through port augusta and then south again. the ferry service has been out of commission for a couple of years and is just recently back again with a new vessel. Now that we can do all sorts of new and exciting things ..here are a couple of pics of a dinner we cooked for some visitors/friends Monday night http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.png
