I'm listening to the Attenborough ep now. Or trying to. It's raining a bit here, so it's difficult to hear anything.

Okay, I've listened to half an hour of that episode and all I can say is that the BBC should never, ever hand over interviews to the general public. Poor old Sir David is being drowned in banal questions along the lines of does he believe in creationism, what's his favourite animal and does he get sick of packing his winter clothes for trips to the polar regions. The interviewer is ordinary too. Attenborough is very patient. He should trade in his knighthood for a sainthood.

Forget I mentioned that podcast.

Too late ... still I will listen .. is there a feedback thing there ... *goes to look for myself*
I like to listen to stuff myself before bagging it, but a clue is sometimes nice.

Thank you, ma'am.

It's fun that you can have different avatar and profile pics. Well, fun might be overstating it, but yanno.

@ Spider Lily it's not easy but as I am getting used to it I can see a few advantages ... for now though, goodnight all.

I like the new forum. There is much potential. Familiar faces.

Getting windy outside.

G'night.

Agreed nut, a lot of good features to like, but I can't help still thinking its somewhat of a double-edged sword.

I joined The Lab about six or seven years back, not long after getting my first 'puter. Found the layout very easy to understand and the layout makes it very simple to follow threads. You can see who is talking about what and choose to read or not read. Very simple to follow one or two threads whilst ignoring a couple of others. With this layout, I have to keep changing pages to follow what's happening.

The old Lab was so basic it took no figuring out at all, this place is going to require me reading a lot of stuff in order to be able to use certain features. There's also the fact I now have a profile that I need to manage, rather than just being "Woollybutt", like I was back there *points*.

Having said that, I'm happy to hang around here for a bit and see how it evolves. I guess it will be a few months of ironing out bugs, deciding which features will be made available/locked down, etc., etc. I guess then it will be up to the bean-counters at the ABC to decide if they'll let it be hosted and maintained on their own servers. If we don't all give it a fair go, I doubt they'll see the $$$ being justified.

One feature that could be very good is the ability to create Groups. Scribbly could have a photography group, bird-watchers group or whatever.

I'm going to really miss the old forums, but if the only way they can survive is in this new guise, I guess I'll have to learn to live with it or move on.

He was frantically trying to overcome the social handicap of being a "junior member" and must have found Scribbly by accident or something

Is there any way to get the most recent posts on top? its a pain having to scroll all the way through and then missing some recent replies to individual posts in the middle? There must be a setting somewhere I just can't see it.

In forum settings in the top bar there is an option under "Forum Actions" > "General Settings" to change from "Linear Oldest First" which is the default to "Linear Newest First".

Wataday, go to your settings page. Under general settings, there's an option about half way down the page called 'Thread display options', which allows you to load pages with the new posts at the top. (That's what it says, anyway. I haven't tried it, so I can't guarantee that it will work!)
