and if it is how can I get this done.

My mother asked me if it was possible to use her Laptop like a Tower. Hook up a Monitor to it and a external Mouse/Keyboard and use it like that. She does have a connector on her Laptop that looks like a monitor cable would fit in it

So pretty much Just turn on her Laptop and work off it like you would a tower cpu

If it would work, is it just a plug and play type thing? or does anything have to be done?

If she has the hook up for a monitor then yes. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse hooked up to mine and then I hook it up to my tv. Close the lid and use my tv to cruise around the comp instead of holding my laptop or sitting up at it.

Really the only thing you will need to change is under the battery settings. To leave 2nd monitor on while the first is closed or something like that.
