I may be off here because this is just hearsay, but I've been told that in some countries or areas (such as Western Europe), police are trained to disable/wound, not use center mass shots by default. May be totally wrong though...
Don't think so. The areas in question are too small to aim for effectively without potentially causing other damage (like to nearby bystanders, for instance). All I've ever come across says center mass. You have to effectively disable someone. And be prepared that you might kill them. Besides, even multiple shots don't always put down people that are high in certain substances. They just keep coming and coming until they've been riddled with bullets.

So the only way that 20 cops could stop ONE MAN with a knife is to kill him? Nothing but BS and like I said if If I'm ever watching the news and hear a cop was shot I will be changing the channel

That's the second time in 7 days that the cops have killed a man without a gun

You obviously have no real life experience. I'd love for O.H. Lee to smack you down at some point in this thread.

Walk towards the police while waving a knife around = get shot and die.

I'm sorry, I have no problem with this at all. Complying with the police while they have their guns drawn on you should *not* be considered optional.

My only question is where were the tasers?

Currently (no pun intended) it seems that law enforcement is as comfortable using them on suspects as well as reheating a kebab lunch with a taser but here we get a shoot-em-up?

They did try to use mace on him more than once. My guess is that they couldn't get close enough for it to be effective. Likewise, in order for a taser to be effective, you have to get relatively close - close enough for the officer to be in danger.

Given the choice of an officer putting himself in danger, or simply shooting the knife-wielding nutcase, I'd personally prefer the latter.

I thought the tasers were effective up to around 25 feet or some such...however Slashey McGee had already been hit with the pepper spray so I guess plan "C" was in order.

I don't like tasers. They initially appear to be the "safer" option, but if you look at some of what's happened during the use of them, you would think the same. There are those who can't be subdued through the use of tasers, either, and you can run the risk of hurting more people in the process.
