After years of a tense relationship with Israel despite repeated denials by the Democrat Party, it seems that that Obama has created a new crisis with Israel.
This week, it finally became public that Obama openly supports Iran building nuclear bombs, and that Obama believes that an Israeli attempt to stop Iran's nuclear program would be "criminal." Yes, I do realize that Obama has repeatedly stated that an Iranian nuclear weapons program would be "unacceptable." But now it turns out that Obama's statements were complete lies. This week, General Dempsey stated publicly that he does not want to be 'complicit' in an Israeli attack against Iran. Nearly every news outlet has pointed out that the choice of the word 'complicit' implies that an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would be a criminal act. Yes - Obama's general has stated, for the record, that despite an Iranian nuclear bomb, the U.S. will not act as an ally of Israel. Instead, the Obama administration would consider Israel's fight for survival to be a criminal act. So, if Obama considers it a crime to stop Iran's nuclear weapons program, it can't be denied that it amounts to open support for Iran's building of nuclear weapons. This comes the same week in which it was reported that Iran now has enough enriched uranium to build 5 nuclear weapons. (Of course, not to mention countless dirty bombs, which Iran can easily build right now). But in case there was any doubt, Obama isn't content with just words. In fact, a joint Israeli-American military exercise that was designed to be a deterrent to Iran, has now been cut to a third(!) of its former scope by the Obama administration. Among the 2/3 cut by Obama, are the Patriot missiles, which will arrive without any Americans to operate them at all. As a deterrent to Iran, the exercises are already a complete failure, some they highlight that the Obama administration has abandoned Israel and will no longer act as an ally. To a great extent, Obama is now openly an ally of Iran. At the same time, Obama's spokesperson has said that the Obama administration doesn't believe that Jerusalem is Israel's capital. Contrast that statement to the Republican position, which is that of course Jerusalem is Israel's capital. And, today, Hilary Clinton announced in Indonesia, that Iran has the right to a nuclear capability, something that in the past, Obama held the opposite position. In light of all of this, top Israeli law-makers see Obama's renouncing his military backing for Israel, as a new crisis in the relationship, which has been very poor ever since Obama's election in 2008. As an American, it's clear to me that the Obama presidency has been a disaster for America domestically, with nearly 1 in 2 Americans receiving government handouts, and 1 in 5 Americans unemployed. 1 in 6 Americans are on food stamps, 4 years after Obama's big promise of "Hope and Change." But from a foreign policy standpoint, Obama has also a disaster for America's standing in the world. Obama has now publicly backstabbed Israel -- and every American Jew, as well as any American with a moral backbone should be outraged. If you're an American and you care about America and/or you care about Israel, please make sure to vote against Obama's policies in November. |

... And just one day later:
Democratic Party platform stripped of key pro-Israel policy statements, Republicans charge http://www.timesofisrael.com/democra...licans-charge/ This refers to the Democratic Party's shameful change of its official platform, which DROPS the 2008 statement that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and also DROPS the statement that Israel is America's ally. In case there was any doubt left over at all, Obama is returning to his anti-Israel roots and even his Leftist Jewish supporters and his misguided Jewish donors won't be able to stop Obama's anti-Israel actions in the unfortunate case that Obama wins a second term. |

NewsGuy, it does look like key language on Jerusalem, Hamas, etc. has been removed from the previous Democratic Platform. Is this document the final version or will there be any changes made at the convention?
The 2012 Democratic National Party Platform on Israel per the New York Times: President Obama and the Democratic Party maintain an unshakable commitment to Israel's security. A strong and secure Israel is vital to the United States not simply because we share strategic interests, but also because we share common values. For this reason, despite budgetary constraints, the President has worked with Congress to increase security assistance to Israel every single year since taking office, providing nearly $10 billion in the past three years. The administration has also worked to ensure Israel's qualitative military edge in the region. And we have deepened defense cooperation - including funding the Iron Dome system - to help Israel address its most pressing threats, including the growing danger posed by rockets and missiles emanating from the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. The President's consistent support for Israel's right to defend itself and his steadfast opposition to any attempt to delegitimize Israel on the world stage are further evidence of our enduring commitment to Israel's security. It is precisely because of this commitment that President Obama and the Democratic Party seek peace between Israelis and Palestinians. A just and lasting Israeli-Palestinian accord, producing two states for two peoples, would contribute to regional stability and help sustain Israel's identity as a Jewish and democratic state. At the same time, the President has made clear that there will be no lasting peace unless Israel's security concerns are met. President Obama will continue to press Arab states to reach out to Israel. We will continue to support Israel's peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, which have been pillars of peace and stability in the region for many years. And even as the President and the Democratic Party continue to encourage all parties to be resolute in the pursuit of peace, we will insist that any Palestinian partner must recognize Israel's right to exist, reject violence, and adhere to existing agreements. source: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...-platform.html |

furious backpedaling:
Democrats amended the party platform Wednesday afternoon to include language supporting Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The quickly approved changed came in the wake of mounting criticism from Democratic members of Congress incensed that the 2008 platform's declaration backing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel had been removed from the 2012 text. The whole 2012 platform was originally adopted during the Democratic convention Tuesday night... It now also includes the 2008 sentence that “Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel.”... source: http://www.jpost.com/USPresidentialr...aspx?id=283989 |

What is surprising? If you judge by his apparent background, Barack Hussein Obama is a radical Christian (Jeremiah Wright) with Islamic roots (His father). And the last four years have shown that President Obama is not a radical like Jeremiah Wright. |

furious backpedaling: I'd be curious to understand the mechanism, though, as to who in the president's inner circle and in the leadership of the Democratic party, was responsible for removing the pro-Israeli provisions in the first place. it had to be people with tremendous influence to have done such a thing. And so long as we don't know who was responsible, it means that they're still out there influencing our government's policies. Of course, a few weeks ago, Obama's spokesman Jay Carney refused to say that Jerusalem was Israel's capital, so it makes you wonder what Obama's real intentions are. Update: Nearly every press outlet is reporting that there was a huge part of the Democratic party that publicly opposed restoring the reference to Jerusalem, and that they booed the decision to restore it, yelling "NO" loudly. In fact, many Democrats believe that the decision to restore the Jerusalem reference was opposed by a majority of Democrats, but rammed through, nonetheless, by Villaragosa. The sad fact is that other than liking Jewish donations, a very large part of the Democratic party is anti-Israel and, IMO, also anti-Semitic and racist. Sure, there have always been a handful of anti-Semites in both parties, but it's now seen to be official and also a majority of the Democratic party that does not support a pro-Israel stance. In the end, there's no denying that Leftists, as in the Democratic party are anti-Israel and anti-Semitic by nature. I really do feel sorry for any Jews who voted for Obama in '08, believing this hope and change nonsense, because this must be hurtful for them to see their former hero show his true colors - no support for Israel against Iran, slashing the joint military cooperation to just 1/3 of what was planned, and removing the 08 party platform which declares Israel to be an ally of the U.S. That provision has not been restored, btw. Very sad. |

Barack Obama, Sr. became an Atheist before meeting Ann Dunham. Any Islamic roots withered long before President Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is descended from the Islamic Luo tribe on his father's side of the family. Obama Sr. was raised in a Muslim family (whatever process of conversion he underwent to Christianity and later Atheism, if you believe it, notwithstanding). His earliest "roots" are clearly Islam. You will note that whatever process of conversion to Atheism via Christianity Obama Sr. underwent, it served him well as the Senior "Socialist" Economist to Jomo Kenyatta, the founder of Kenya, before his falling out. Be reminded that Atheism* was key for socialist advancement in the day. *Josef Stalin was trained for the priesthood, but he found atheism to be his preferred standard for his socialist/communist experiment that was the Soviet Union. |
