Default Reflections on the Ground Zero Mosque
Chris Kelly had a novel take on the Ground Zero Mosque:

...everyone who's against the mosque is missing the point. It's not about honoring the memory of the last attack; it's about preventing the next. The problem isn't that the mosque is too close to the hole where they're building the Freedom Target; the problem is it's not close enough.

The Freedom Tower is the greatest geopolitical "Come and Get Me" since Roosevelt double-parked all those battleships at Pearl. If you're worried about a downtown construction site that's going to inspire terrorism, don't look at the Burlington Coat Factory. Look in the crater. Everyone who hates America is going to get up in the morning thinking of knocking the Freedom Tower down, then spend the day planning it, and go to sleep at night and dream they pulled it off.

Wouldn't you?

The only thing that might possibly deter them? The risk that their target could fall over and hit a mosque.

...Killing another Muslim on purpose? For that you go straight to hell, forever. It's really serious. Like our book's rules against strong intoxicating drink, mixing textiles and eating owls.

That's why we want as many Muslim houses of worship around lower Manhattan as was can possibly get. A ring of mosques, if possible. A wall of mosques. The taller the better.

And one huge, round mosque, on top of the Freedom Tower itself, rotating slowly.

On top of the rotating mosque? Two penthouse apartments. In Penthouse A: Muhammad Ali. Penthouse B: Omar Sharif. I don't care if he says he's Catholic. The president says he's Presbyterian. People say a lot of things.

It's beside the point.

Like whether or not freedom of religion is in the Constitution. I don't care about the law, or justice, or fairness, or even consistency. I'm talking about keeping America safe.

Sorry, "Keeping America Safe." source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-..._b_691427.html
