Early Voting

There have been quite a few on this board that have talked about voting early in their states. I was just curioius about ours, and there is no such provision. To vote early, one must either bring in proof to the County Clerk's office that one has to be out of town that day for something such as training for a job, or a pre-planned, or sign an oath saying such, and it is treated like a sworn statement in court.

I am not sure how many states allow early voting or voting by mail, but Kentucky is very strict about it. Does anyone happen to know how many states allow early voting? My guess is that it falls along a liberal-conservative state line.

If I am not mistaken, today is the first day of early voting in Wisconsin.

I think we get about 3 weeks out to vote by absentee ballot. You have to register for absentee ballot and your signature is checked. They are not opened until election day.

I don't know the numbers for the state but 30% of our counties registered voters will vote by absentee ballot.

In Washington State many counties have only ballots distributed by mail. I voted last week.

Tennessee allows early voting in person. I voted last week.

We have had early voting for years.

I'm pretty sure they allow early voting in Florida. Recall seeing some voting forms at my parents place the other week that they were mailing off.

I'm a Florida resident also! But am stuck in Illinois at the moment and might be here for awhile. Bit concerned that I might not make it in time to vote. Will have to look further into this.

Call your county election board. We have one stop voting, and I love it.

I cannot understand Kentucky's reasoning for not allowing early voting. If one swears out a false statement as to why they are voting early (requires a verified absence) and you get caught, you can be heavily fined and even spend some time in the local jail. I cannot understand the reasoning behind this.

I'll be mailing my ballot in tomorrow...along with my code and signature for verification.

Then I can tell the daily pollster that are knocking on my door I already voted...wait, I just tell them we're busy and don't answer their questions anyways.
