Debate question
I found this on my facebooks page:
"Romney, aircraft carriers and ships that go under water are needed in the desert, didnt you know?" the only reponse was: "Sounds like a bad lip reading..." Unfortunately, I fell asleep on and off during the debate. does anyone know what the face book poster was trying to say? Thanks, Salty |
I didn't hear the whole thing but I don't believe that is what he said. He DID misspeak and I think couldn't remember "submarine" and instead said "ships that go underwater" but then quickly said "submarine" after that.
Having a brother in the Navy for 24 years and who has been deployed in the Middle East numerous times, I can tell you that there are ships in the area AND that the Navy are on the ground in Afghanistan and were in Iraq as well. Heck, I just sent a box of goodies to Kabul! |
He was saying that Romney wanted to prepare for WW2 while he, Obama, was preparing for WW3.

Prevent WW3 by building battle tanks the Army doesn't want, surface ships the Navy doesn't want, and the Joint Strike fighter that no one wants?

You all will be happy when the Chinese Army starts buying into US defense industries. A friend works for a small Boeing subcontractor that was recently bought by an Italian company. No reason it could not have been a Chinese company - or a Chinese company with an American name chartered in the US.

Bill, your post couldn't be more wrong about what we want.
Romney should have pointed to what history teaches us concerning this issue. 1. People declare a war has ended 2. People declare an end of our need of a large and prepared military..especially in light of technology 3. There is a major attack and a new war 4. We lose precious time and therefore massive amounts of people because we are playing catch up. 5. Repeat 1-4 |
Throughout recorded history (roughly 3,400 years) there has only been about 270 years of peace. Wisdom would tell us to be prepared, for as David said, "I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war." Psa. 120:7

Still, the Army is required to buy new battle tanks they don't want for a war which will never be fought. None of the services want the Joint Strike fighter which is designed for a war which will not be fought.
Russia has dozens of ice breakers including nuke jobs. The US has one ice breaker which Congress wants to retire. |
