If, and that's a big if, we ever actually know what happened to cause assasinations, I'd put money that they pissed off the wrong people and thought they were above retribution.

As opposed to the rest of the spoilt, rich politicians in the US? 11 of the current serving Senators have either followed their parent of spouse into that office. Errr, hello Mr President? Wasn’t your father one too? Perhaps people need to remember what the War of Independence was actually fought for, as it seems that the US is desperately trying to recreate dynastic and monarchical rule – all current evidence proves this point.
