Default Maher terminals and democrats......
It seems that Maher Terminals is a big contributor to the DNC. Especially to a Robert Menendez of New Jersey. Maher Terminals is also the largest container terminal operator in the NY and NJ ports.

Dubai is now out of the running to operate the terminals. Hmmmmm

Boy does this ever have the beginnings of a scandal.

Are you saying only Republicans can scratch the backs of those who pay them?

I agree that you don't hear about it as much from the Democratic side but should we not finish with the Republicans who have been or will be named by Abramoff first.

But what about all the Republicans involved? It wasn't the Dems alone who threatened to overturn Bush's veto.

Shouldn't we also include the democratswho received money from him like the leader of the dems in the Senate like Harry Reid who then went on to pettition Indian tribes on his behalf?

I have no problem with that at all. It will be interesting to see who is affected, partisanship aside (as I don't really have any when US politics is concerned). I was simply countering the implication that Democrats alone are to gain from this deal, and that the track record lately is in their (Dems) favor.

Well Hillary seems to get a free pass on most things, so its no wonder she and most dems don't seem to be held accountable.

I think accountability is up to the voter. They are the ones who decide who has a job or not.

As far as Hilary, I think it is too early to affect her chances at party leader, let alone national leader. If this story would have broken closer to the election or nomination, then there would have been more backlash. It is to her benefit that this comes out now, the voter who determines her future will forget about this by that time. If it does come up again it will be brushed under the rug as old news.

Yeah like i keep saying we gotta wait until 2008 (i think all we can hope to do is use up as much of her campaign funds as possible this fall) to really go after her, now isn't the time to bring this up!

Yep, it sure looks like the jig is up.

The House Appropriations Committee voted 62-2 to block the Dubai deal.
Given that there are 36 Repubs on the committee, at least 34 of the 36 voted to block it.

Wait til they find out that they fell for a ploy by the Dems to steer the operation contracts to Maher Terminals, a company that operates the container terminal at Port Elizabeth and is not remotely big enough to handle operations at 6 ports.

Man, are they going to feel played when they realize that Maher is a big supporter of Menendez and the DNC. No doubt Bush will be furious, and will will return the $16,000 in contributions Maher Execs made to to his campaigns in 2000 and 2004.

Let the fireworks begin.

Now you're just confusing the issue with facts. Shouldn't do that, it makes people less self-righteous.

Yeah, because Americans are the bad guys. ???

More jobs for Americans. Americans controlling American ports! What's this world coming to?!

I'm sure there's going to be a strong public uprising over this piece of information!

Any of you guys want to start new banners?

"Support Dubai! Screw Americans!"

Yah JDD what are you doing raining on bigT's parade with facts and logic?
The Dems are the minority and have no power, but when things go wrong, bigT has to be able to blame the Dems, you are ruining it for him and spad and Traveler! I mean Traveler is still trying to say Harry Reid has something to do with the Abramoff scandal! They just need to keep the fantasy going, we should let them have their daydreams

The entire government is already starting to ignore the movement that was supposed to change how lobbyists operate in government. They don't care, neither democrats and republicans. Even though Republicans are the primetime crooks, both of them enjoy luxuries.

But it's the everyday democrats that want lobbyist reform, but republicans are taught not to care. You'll see, by 2008, lobbyists will go back under the radar.
