he's a douche.

Corpulent Christie.

(Although, in all fairness, it is not his size that makes him horrible....)

Yeah but I like the property tax caps, the clean-up at the corrupt Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, & (but not limited to) NOT getting my favorite state park closed during July 4th week so that I'm forced to use some loathesome municipal beach in Seaside because the state can't get it together. I'm also a proponent of merit-based teachers' tenure. Just a few things.

Merit Teachers is a tough one, as that depends a LOT on the supervisors and what teachers are given what students.

It always SOUNDS good until you become aware of the political BS that goes on inside our schools... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.png

^^ I agree with your comments on merit teachers. It is too easy to assess a teacher's contribution on the basis of how well her/his class does on standardized tests. Such assessments fail to take envionrmental factors into account. It makes me uneasy.

I'd like to see Governor Christie help get a few things changed. Here's my wish list:

1. Eliminate the double fines in 65 MPH zones.
2. Raise the NJTP speed limit to 70 MPH south of the present construction zone.
3. Harmonize New Jersey law with 48 other states and allow motorists to pump their own gas.

That's about it. Nothing too controversial; just a few things to make life easier for everybody.

citalopram 08-02-2011 08:23 PM

1. Why.
2. Why.
3. BS. Our gas would cost the same and we would have to do it ourselves.

alexbookhyip 08-02-2011 09:14 PM

1. There is no justification for double fines in the 65 MPH zones. Many municipalites will not honor the double fine rule
2. It is never going to happen, but let's face it. Avg speed in that area is between 75-79. You are like a pylon, almost a hazard at 65
3. That is probably not true. In NY, gas station show two prices one for attandant assisted and one for self help. I would imagine the same thing would happen in NJ. It certainly would speed up service along the turnpike where there is often a big logjam an the pump.

Edd, I agree on the 65 rule, but saying there is no reason for it will not really get rid of it..... I will also argue the same thing, but I know I will never win.

As for 2... for someone who usually keeps within 15mph of the limit himself (you did not hear that from me) I also agree. The only problem coming, you raise it to 70, people will be going 90.

And for the third, it is true. Trust me. NJ has THE CHEAPEST gas in almost all the US. As for the TP, simply get off at an exit and drive more than a mile and you will get gas that is 10-30 cents cheaper per gallon and service that gets you out in 10 minutes. Hell, the one place I go to right on 17 was $3.50 a gallon when Valero and others were $3.70 (and it never took me more than 10 minutes to get in and out).

Gas stations will not drop their price if the law is passed, they will just give the "option" and charge more for the service. Oh, they will not do it right away, they will do it the same way that other products do (in the case of Orange Juice, by offering BIG sales on the juice, without telling you that they went from 64 to 59oz, or label them as "Easy Pour" like Tree Ripe did).

They will simply lower the price for a few weeks until we forget what they were, then creep back up.

After all, take a look at the price of oil. How is it that gas prices are higher now than they were when oil was the same price? ESPECIALLY when the oil industry blamed oil prices for the increase in gas prices?
