What strikes me as ironic is that so many Muslims support Obama. When Obama is "accused" of being a Muslim you can see he gets so angry and looks almost embarrassed. He goes to great lengths to show that he is certainly not, nor ever has been, a Muslim and says that his father was an atheist. I have heard the following and variations of it many times:
" If anyone is still puzzled about the facts, in fact I have never been a Muslim. We had to send CNN to look at the school that I attended in Indonesia where kids were wearing short pants and listening to ipods to indicate that this was not a madrassa but was a secular school in Indonesia. Where I attended for two year prior to coming back to Hawaii. If you look at Nicholas Kristof’s article today it gives you an indication of where I got my name. My grandfather who was Kenyan converted to Christianity then converted to Islam, my father never practiced he was basically agnostic and so other than my name and the fact that I lived in a populous Muslim country for 4 years when I was a child I have very little connection to the Islamic religion. But these are the kind of things that you deal with in politics. What is interesting is that is hasn’t worked because I haven’t been voted off the island yet." - Obama If I was a Muslim I would be offended by Obama's reaction. If he had any b***s and really wanted to bring all faiths and races together he would stand up and say, "So what if I'm a Muslim?" The media also gets very angry on Obama's behalf that ,g-d forbid, people refer to him as a Muslim. The media are even angrier that these attempts to brand him a Muslim come from their "liberal" side of the aisle, mainly the Clinton camp. It is so obvious to everyone how the media has turned against their old loves, the Clintons and fallen head over heals for this Obama. This whole thing reminds me of what happened with George Allen, the former Virginia senator. You'll remember how much the media wanted him to lose to Webb so they dug up some info about his mom being Jewish to turn people against him. When Allen insisted he did not consider himself Jewish and was raised Christian, the media went crazy and insinuated that he was an anti-Semite. Some even went bat***t crazy when he made a joke about liking bacon. Does anyone see the hypocrisy? This reminds me of a book I saw the other day called something like Liberal Hypocrisy: Do as I say, not as I do. *************** In any case, back to the first sentence. Why do Muslims support Obama? Is it his stance on gay marriage? OR do they only support him b/c of his stance on Iraq? Israel? In that case, why are only Jews accused of voting for a candidate who supports their people? Can't the same case be made for Muslims? I mean I doubt Muslims are supporting Obama b/c he is pro-choice. And by the way, that doesn't bother me that Muslims support Obama b/c they think he will be "good" for Muslims. People should care about their own people. It's only natural. I just don't think it's fair that Jews are singled out in this regard. I doubt Italian Americans would vote for a pres that they felt was anti-Italy. Ciao. |
