Oh, who did you vote for in the last primary?
The Captain couldn't have voted. Not a citizen.

You can say whatever you want.
It does not mean i will listen to you.
Is that out of arrogance or rudeness Ninja?

Oh, who did you vote for in the last primary?
Please keep up Ninja, I did say that I was not American and as you can see I don't live in the US. I was merely offering you the benefit of my opinion on the subject as someone outside looking in, it does provide a valuable perspective on matters of this kind.

Dean blew it with his "Yeaahhhh!" thing. AMAZING how one little embarassing outburst like that can ruin a guys POLITICAL chance.
F*ing pathetic is what it is. America undersmarted itself on that one. All the democrats said Dean was unelectable, then put completely unlikable John Kerry out there. No one liked him, they just thought the other side would like him more. Image should be more important than substance for say...America's Next Top Model. Not for president.

I support everyone supporting Newt Gingrich. He's exactly the kind of Republican I want to run.

Maybe we can start charging for the number of votes cast and do it all over the telephone!!!

That is one way to raise money!

fyi I'm a democrat, and I want Newt to run in kind of a votefortheworst kind of way...I'm actually thinking of re-registering as a Republican because I think it would make voting more fun.

I like Edwards and he's the one I am supporting. He has a populist message, but he was talking about povert in America before anyone else. He talked about the shift of tax burden from the wealthy onto workers - exactly what happened under Bush. He strongly speaks out on civil rights and human rights, and I happen to think he is a brilliant AND compassionate guy.

I am not going to vote Republican in any way, especially with the PATRIOT Act still in effect. The only possible combination that might have me teetering in the voting booth is Clinton vs. Giuliani. Giuliani will serve NY better as President. Not Clinton. They have similar records on civil rights. Rudy and Hill's hubby both balance budgets.

Hillary star has been fading for me. She has proven to be a panderer of the worst kind and, since she is my senator, I don't appreciate her playing to the bible-belt while working for NY State. I didn't like her much before (I didn't vote for her in '06) because she is a pro-war corporate whore candidate.

I agree with others who find Obama to be an enigma. He has no record and that is what I consider in the voting booth. I don't find him as charismatic as others seem to think, but the whoopdeedoo around this guy is the same kind of stuff the media whipped up for Bill Clinton.

Bill Richardson is probably the most qualified and experienced for the job of president, but he doesn't move me in any way. I'd love to see him in a Secretary of State role.

Howard Dean was my choice in '04. He was the most honest and the most energizing candidate so far in my election life. He motivated me to get involved. When he accepted the role of DNC Chairman, he completely lost me. I'll never vote or listen to him again. He joined the very establishment I thought he was leading us to overthrow.

I'm an independent. I hope a dark horse candidate emerges that sweeps this field clean. The Democrats and Republican have been atrocious over the last ten years. The Republicans certainly more so than Democrats, but the Democrats are not the antidote to anything. I continue to hope a third party develops that can start picking off the Republicans and Democrats - all of the corporate shills.

I'll quibble with you about the use of the word "whore" in relation to Hillary. Sure, she's a crappy panderer, but no more than Bill. She was pro-war (in a pandering, seemed-popular-at-the-time kind of way), but I think a lot of the "can't stand Hillary" sentiment is sexist. There's plenty about her to criticize without going to a sexually degrading place.

Skip the shortie answer on that. I think Dean had possibility, but he tied his own political shoes together...

What didn't you like about him specifically edd? Most people can only remember that he was kind of spazzy, but not bring anything concrete to the table when discussing him.

I think that is a shame, moreso that that is the actual way people are elected than the fact that he was or not.
i think you misinterpreted my post ... or maybe I misinterpreted the meaning post I was responding to. Either way, what I meant to convey was that I too never got over Dean, i.e. was disappointed his candidacy fell apart over something as silly as his primal scream.

I am a big supporter of Howard Dean.. I think he is smart, passionate and right on the issues. I think he has vision. He doesn't sugar coat and he doesn't pretend he is something he isn't as illustrated by the point he made about the role of religon in politics. Wears his views on his sleeve and doesn't equivocate or pander.

Here is some more of what I find appealing about him:
  • Only democrat who showed me he had the courage of his convictions during the 2004 election. He said what he thought and he didn't wait for a poll to come out
  • IMMEDIATELY came out against the Iraq invasion
  • Grass root support.. not beholding to corporate or PAC funding
  • Socially liberal views with respect to all diversity issues
  • Strong Universal Healtcare supporter
I also think he deserves a lot of credit as party chairman. His strategy of ensuring a campaign footprint in every state (as opposed to just the swing states) got the dems thru 2004 and will pay big dividends in 2008.

Hope that is clearer

Seriously, he's the only quality liberal candidate I can think of. (the reality of Al Gore is a lot more appealing that Al Gore the candidate) Democrats would be a lot better off fielding someone like him than some crappy moderate no one likes. Centrist panderers made the Nader effect.
