Default War On Gangs
Figured I would start a thread about the war on our terrorists we have at home those being the gangs that roam the streets of our cities like packs of wolves. Here is a bill being passed by my neighbor Louis Manzo whos office is right down the street from me.

Anti-gang bill passes senate

A bill proposed by a Hudson County assemblyman with the aim of curbing street gang recruitment of minors passed the state Senate yesteday and is expected to be signed into law in 60 to 90 days, officials said.

“Not just in Hudson but all the urban areas in our state are seeing the growth of street gangs, and anything we can do to curb their activity is a benefit to society,” said Assemblyman Louis M. Manzo, D-Jersey City.

The measure makes recruiting minors to join street gangs punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $150,000 in fines.

The Senate amended the bill to also make recruiting juveniles through threats of bodily harm, and recruiting members in jail or while on parole, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, Manzo said. Senators also added language setting the same sentence for participation in violent gang initiations, which often involve the recruit being assaulted by gang members, Manzo said.

The bill has been passed by the Assembly and Gov. Jon Corzine is expected to sign it into law. Assemblyman and Mayor Brian P. Stack of Union City is a co-sponsor.
