Default Panetta as SECDEF?
Just wondering if this is a good move, considering his performance at the CIA.

Moving Petraeus to CIA which was hinted at a few weeks ago - why not make Petraeus SECDEF?

Panetta as SECDEF? Couldn't they go over to Arlington Cemetary and dig up someone infinitely more qualified? This'll be the 2nd coming of Les Aspin.

With Petraeus to the highly visible SECDEF position he would be a political threat, to CIA he drops below the political/media radar. Panetta, not a threat.

I really don't see Panetta making any hard decisions or standing up for the military on cuts that could affect our readiness. He will just be a yes man to any hatchet job we have to suffer through.

I don't think anyone will be questioning Penetta's qualifications anymore.

You don't think that a general would be a yes man to the vested interest in DOD? Do you think that the general would be more objective?

Please, put the kool aid down. If you believe that Panetta actually 'lead' the recent raid in Pakistan then you have already drank too much.
