Staff report
Posted : Sunday Aug 22, 2010 9:22:42 EDT

The Army’s first centralized selection board for command sergeant major assignments with special operations forces and special management units will meet Dec. 6 through 12 at Fort Knox, Ky.

Active component command sergeants major, sergeants major and promotable master sergeants selected by the board will be assigned to group, brigade and battalion CSM positions that become vacant in fiscal 2012.

The basic zones of consideration are:

• Brigade and group — CSM and SGM with basic dates not earlier than Oct. 1, 1981; a date of birth not earlier than Oct. 1, 1952; and a professional development code of 8A or 8B.

• Battalion — CSM, SGM and promotable master sergeants with basic service dates that are not earlier than Oct. 1, 1981; and their birth dates not earlier than Oct. 1, 1952.

NCO evaluation reports submitted for this board must be received at the Human Resources Command by Nov. 26.

The online My Board File records review system will be available NCOs in the zone of consideration.

The system, which can be accessed through a link on the Human Resources Command homepage, will open Oct. 7, and close Dec. 2.

The command designation web application can be used by soldiers to communicate their CSM assignment preferences to the Army.

The service will open Sept. 17, and remain open for about two months
