Maybe the Olympic Committee should have saved some money and taken a pass on the Ralph Lauren uniforms, and just picked some gear up at Wal-Mart?

Oh, that's right. Most of Wal-Mart's stuff is made in China. How about Target then?

Speaking of which.. AFAIK, it's privately funded..

What business is it of the US Congress where they get their uniforms?

They should have gotten the patterns and had little old ladies sew the uniforms personally for each athlete. Well, they don't have to necessarily be little old ladies, but I'm sure they could support a SMALL business. Just saying.

I know, call me Pollyana.

An equal opportunity sound byte. Some jumped on it very quickly and of course the others couldn't be out-patrioted.
It's politics, you know.

They take no direct subsidies from the government. They have a fucking budget. They have a lot of uniforms to buy. If American companies aren't specifically donating uniforms, why the fuck would anybody begrudge them trying to find the best deal to make the best use of their resources? Fuck these stupid assholes in Congress who think that they can score patriotism points on this bullshit. Fuck them right in their ears. Pass all the fucking laws you want, you don't have any sort of constitutional authority to tell the USOC where they can buy shit.

According to Judge Roberts they can tax them into it..

Their power to tax is pretty much unlimited.

People will see this for the cheap stunt it is, however.. It's insulting to the reader, to see them grandstanding like this.

Someone should tell that Freedom Fries Congress that the American flags they're waving are being made in China.
