Default The Amish People
I started watching this new TV show called "Amish: Out of Order" and am really interested in these people. Does anyone know what ethnic nationality most of them are, for example are they mostly German? Also, why do the men have the weird beards, everything they do is per the Bible...is there something Biblical for how they wear their beards?

I think they are Swiss German, German and Dutch. Pennsylvania Dutch. I don't know about the beards. Maybe it has to do with that not cutting the corners of the hair things from the bible.

basically though most of them are german, from southern germany i think. as far as the beards and the traditional dress i think they want to keep a traditional lifestyle and a plain lifestyle i guess because it goes with the whole notion in the bible that you shouldn't be flashy and show off your wealth or live a luxurious lifestyle etc.

the area where my mom grew up in had a LOT of amish people nearby, and while living on the east coast i got the chance to see a couple myself when im in pennsylvania.

There are other Mennonites groups that wear modern clothing. They still dress very modestly though.

I heard that they follow their religion word for word without sin. In the 21 century?! Is it true? If it is, how do they manage it, lol?

As far as i remember there is some prohibition to cut the hair in the old testament- out of the same reason orthodox Jews have long beards. But the Amish shave their mustache to not look like military personnel who had mustaches at the time when the Amish originated. Another, and actually more important, reason might be group identity/separation etc.

mostly germanic/western european countries.

a lot of white americans have american indian, african or something else in the background but the amish are isolated community so they have a different look then most americans.

Amish life is not so perfect . Watch the documentaries I posted , especially the second and the third . The first one is more joyful

^^ I know, that is why I said I like some things. I've watched many documentaries about them. I try to live in a similar way of all the things I like about their lifestyle.

would you say that the Amish (their phenotype) could perfectly fit into Germany and Switzerland?

I like the Amish. They're very self-reliant and don't bother other people.

Rather robust Alpinid seems predominant, in some cases with significant Nordid/North Atlantid admixture.
