Default Age of Empires (No Black Empires)
Ive become increasingly aware of a seemingly conscious effort to keep Black Africans out of history (Usually Black African history is shown in a negative light). When it comes to Movies, Textbooks, and (recently from my observation) video games we are continually left out it seems. (not saying we are completely absent)

The reason I bring this up is because, taking a break from all my hard work this semester I wanted to drown in nothingness all summer by indulging in video games. I took a look at Age of Empires and I noticed that just about every civilization was present in at least one of the series expect Black African Empires. Maybe I missed something but it just seemed to flow very nicely with my recent observations, alluding to the validity of my claim.

Question:
Do any of you guys (mostly Black Africans) believe that there is a conscious effort to denigrate and downplay Black African culture and civilization and its contributions in today's society? Or Am I just extremely gifted in paranoia?

My Opinion:
I believe in the past it was definitely a conscious effort but today I think its been reinforced so many times that it has become second nature. I honestly believe people know more about space than they do about Africa...Let alone Black Africa...I wish i were joking

The few Negroid empires that existed were late in history (as opposed to the classical era of empires). Moreover, they had no real influence in the world and aside from a few Negro tribes here and there, they did not really change the lives of many people. Probably why they're not included.

I think the Roman Empire was of the few who had influenced the world through expansion the most, I don't see empires such as the Chinese one making changes to humanity for example.
Also the OP says all empires where there(I think even the Mesoamerican one) but not the Black African ones

Maybe someone will make Total War South Africa with some Zulus. I've never played a Total War game though so I don't know if they are worth a shit. I've never played AoE for that matter either.

OT rant. I can never find the video game thread. It would be nice if we had minor subsections for literature and video games.

To be on topic, sort of lol, I prefer turn based to real time when it comes to strategy type games.

I mean they didn't expand their culture and language worldwide like the Roman Empire did for example.

Im not going into the whole "no Negro influence thing"...I assure you this claim is notoriously fraud. I respectfully disagree...Anyway according to your theory Aztecs and other Native American tribes shouldn't be in the game either. This is what really convinced me of my theory. If you can include them you can at least include Mali Empire, Fulani Empire, Ashanti Empire Ethiopian Empires etc...

Can we really ignore the Nubians...they were well known for their Archers. Even the Egyptians called their territory TA-Seti (Land of the Bow)

You should consider Age of Empires...Its really easy to learn and fun. I highly recommend it. Its all over Youtube if you want to take a look

You have to/can create an empire from scratch in all the games.

Egyptians were not black...

so an AE expansion does not represent blacks it only represents modern Egyptians.

Yea part one has Egyptians, and though I don't remember Nubians, they fight witH Canaanites, those anrn't Africans but they did appear in the game, they also aren't an Empire. You can play as Carthaginians at some point as well.
