You sure? Look at turks and armenians, they look very alike on average, I would say for most it is cultural and religious. Most marry and have children within their (very) small world. Xenophobia and familiarity applies to behaviors (ie. Religion) too. People are first attracted to similar appearance (like an identical twin, or your own reflection in the mirror), and then second to similar behavior. The analogy of your reflection in the mirror is the best example of Familiarity. You look like yourself. You act like yourself. But sexuality requires a male and female. So men & women (most often) marry each-other according to this standard of familiarity. There are sociological & biological reasons for this. Ethnicities/Races tend to form breeding rites & requirements. There exist biological taboos reinforced by sociological standards. However individuals sometimes defy these sociological, cultural, and religious norms, at great personal risk. It generally is abnormal for different tribes to mix, or different religions (behaviors) to mix. To reiterate the point, religion & culture is about behavior. Familiarity applies to –both– appearance and behavior. |

Cultural similarities is a huge factor, but also because i want my children to look like me. ![]() Never say never and all that, but I don't see myself dating or marrying a woman who is not white. |

Turks and Armenians probably would marry each other rather than an ethnic & racial outsider who vastly differs from both of them, based on appearances. |

A) People usually hang out most with their own kind, hence easier to meet
B) People are usually attracted to their own race C) People prefer to have a relationship (and even more os marry i think) with someone who share their own culture, because it's easier to function as couple so. All of these factors combined. |

I think compatibility with values and even sense of humor is so much more important than say religion or ethnicity for me. |

Like it was mentioned earlier that Culture, Religion and Language are some of the main reasons people marry their own. And for me shared personal experiences, whether those be good or bad that comes with being of particular race/ethnicity, Especially in a country where you are part of the minority is important.
2 popular mainstream choices in north america(by mainstream I mean what majority of white guys like), are always either white women and east-asian women, but they are also the opposite end when it comes to privilege in many ways. Just imagine having my indian-looking children from a white woman or western east-asian woman. when my children go through racial discrimination a typical white girl or asian girl(being their mother) here in canada wouldn't know what to do since they never went through similar experience themselves. |
