First time I saw her on Dark Angel, I knew nothing about her, and I instantly wondered about her ancestry. I wondered if she had some sort of non-white ancestry, because I thought she looked really exotic. I couldn't quite place her, I thought of something like part Polynesian or some other unusual admixture.
At that point in time those things didn't even interest me at all. She just looked really unusual to me.
She certainly didn't look just European to me.

I guess she looks more exotic in motion, and it depends on her styling.

However, "British" certainly don't enter the equation at all. If some Brit looks like her, then it must be some unusual ambiguous looking Brit, who quite simply doesn't look typically British - or British at all.

In some pics she looks close to Atlantids but in others who non-Caucasoid traits are vey visible. So no, I don't think she'd pass as a native in Europe.

No she would not pass in Ireland. Some Irish can have more tanned complexions but she dosen`t look like one of those.She looks mixed.

Yes she is supposed to be 87% European either its wrong or her fathers Amerindian influence is very strong to show u so much on her.

I ask because the location of place of origin can change people's perception of an individual. Just like if Catherine Zeta Jones was American or Latin American, how many would see her as part Amerindian or part Black?

She reminds me of one of my cousins. She's part aboriginal, and she looked much more aboriginal as kid, and now she looks much less aboriginal, it's only vaguely detectable.

Just thought I'd add this candid - it's not recent, it's her walking her dog. Scottish, lol?
I suppose the difference between now and then is that she had fatter cheeks, and somehow that made her look more exotic and ambiguous, while she looks much more European when she lost those fatty cheeks.

Perhaps I can recognise the similarity with my part aboriginal cousin simply because both she and Alba are part Danish as well. I didn't think of that when I wrote the post above.

No, I would still question her background. Take for example Jessica Biel. I always wondered why they picked a mixed-looking girl to play the daughter of very obvious white American parents. The same goes for Phoebe Tonkin from H2o. While both Phoebe and Jessica Biel look far less exotic than Jessica Alba does.

There's no real resemblance, IMO. The Italian American is probably darker than Alba. Alba's natural hair is medium-light brown, for example.

I do think that she looks much whiter, subjctively, nowadays compared with how she looked in the past. I already posted a video which showed her present looks. However, the "Polynesian" comment I made is based on how she looked in Dark Angel, where I first saw her, and she looked far more exotic back then - no doubt in part due to styling, but she looked ambiguous in Never Been Kissed as well, even though she had blonde hair there. I didn't mean to say that she looked like a purely Polynesian person, but rather like an European with some exotic admixture. Which is what she is.

Yes, I have the opposite opinion, I thought she looked much cooler and very adorable back then, while I don't care much for her as she is now. The last movie where she looked really good was Awake, where she also looked just about as exotic as she did in Dark Angel. Not Med. She may conform more to a standard beauty ideal now, but that's just boring.

She just had a more ambiguous look in the past, while she looks less immediately ambiguous now. Her European part is mostly Northern European, remember, not Med. Med's look different, with short foreheads and other charateristic traits. She looks different, even now. It depends on the picture, but she still looks a bit "exotic" nowadays, just not as much as in the past. She also have a bit of her old look in the last picture you posted, her eyes looks the same as ever.

This is how she looked, and it's based on her look there that I considered her exotic - ambiguous and indeterminable looking:

Ps. about Maghrebi - whenever I've been to Spain or Italy, and those North African vendors try to sell stuff, you can always recognise them from miles away. They USUALLY looks nothing like the locals. Sure, a gazillion pics have been posted here that shows "white" looking NA, but in reality they just don't look like Europeans in general except for the few individuals who do. Someone once posted a Maltese or Sicilian or something who looked very "Amerindian" so you can always find people with a superficial resemblance despite their origin. I mean JA's dad look East Indian to me. But that's just my wrong perception.
