Let's start with the fact that Westerners don't see a difference between different EE nations. We all are the same to them... Polish, Russian, Latvian or Estonian...

Not seeking to troll. But in our news they often specify where criminals come from. For instance, this week the Belgian police have arrested a Lithuanian gang of car burglars (who specialised in stealing the GPS inside). Or how about the Latvian (Jewish) paedophile in the Netherlands? Very famous case. 18 years prison and lifelong assylum (never to get free in other words).

But luckily it's not only about criminals, but also victims. This week a Latvian tourist decided to go for a swim in the Netherlands, and he sadly drowned.

Usually they do specify, but not often for positive news.

P.S.: They usually mention the state where they hold citizenship of, not really their ethnicity. It isn't mentioned that Roberts Mikelsons is a Latvian Jew, but they do mention he's from Riga and Latvian.

Tabloids need sensations, masses need someone to blame, elites need someone to patronise- its a big business. I would say anti-eastern Europe, especially anti-Polish phenomen yes, but not anti-Finnish.

I don't think there's a specific anti Polish tendency but maybe there is an "anti eastern European worker that takes our jobs"-tendency in countries where a lot of eastern Europeans go to work?

Payment is tied to GDP but GDP is not real money state has in the treasure. The money in the treasure cames from the taxes, ie. from tax-payers. So proportionally the payment tied into GDP is much much bigger proportion when it comes out from the treasury.
