If Luck is anywhere near as good as the scouts think he'll be then they should at the very least be somewhat competitive. I would assume they'll get a high draft pick again next year that will help them out.
For the high draft pick to help them out, they'll need the GM to hit on it--he's unproven thus far.
And coaching goes a long way in this league, so Pagano has to be a hit as well for the team to rise much in 3 years.

I'm a little more optimistic for them. I wasn't a huge fan of Fleener so early, because I see him as a one trick pony type of player, but I think they were able to nail down a solid nose tackle, and that's huge in making a quick transition from a 4-3 to 3-4 defense. They should be helped by some very nice WR/CB/OLB prospects in next year's draft.

Jerome Simpson.

Hopefully the biggest impact will be improved and healthy Ponder. If Ponder doesn't progress, could be a brutal year....most vike fans are only hoping for 5-7 wins, so it's not like we think we're a playoff team...we just dont feel we're dead last.
Unfortunately, he's missing time on suspension. But hoping for 5-7 wins...If that's your ceiling, you have to admit that the floor could be 3 or 4 wins, which is enough to finish last.

Right now, Minnesota has the shakiest QB situation in my eyes. But that could change quickly.

I'm told Gurley is better than anyone on the vikings.

ok, that's an exaggeration
Gurley has Alshon Jeffrey size, but in shape. Not sure on the hands...but he has a kick blocking knack, loves to tackle, and is a good blocker on returns. Pretty much everything you could ask for in a 5th receiver.

I get that, Lem talks as if he's ready to be a star though

Shakiest? I wouldn't go that far.

You probably wouldn't, but I would. Unproven 2nd year QB backed up by an unproven 3rd year QB.
I give the Jags a slight edge because Henne has managed to accomplish more in the league thus far...which isn't saying much, but it's true.

Borel might be more dangerous as a receiver at this point. But Gurley certainly looks the part. When folks talk about Driver being replaced, they aren't talking about Gurley taking his spot, though...They are talking about Cobb taking that spot, and Gurley or Borel sliding into Cobb's number 5 role.

fair enough.

I didn't realize Jag's had Henne. But, I'm pretty confident in Ponder

GB is deep at WR, no doubts there.

I would point out, if they did this for GB in 2006, GB would've/should've been in bottom half of the league.

which is why this is pretty futile

Three seasons after May, 2006, the Packers were 6-10, in the bottom half of the league.

SpOOOOOky.

You are a Viking fan. You have to be until proven otherwise.

Anyone who isn't a Viking fan has to be shown something before having any confidence.

Trying to predict 3 years out is a fool's game. The Lions went from being winless to a playoff team in 4 years.

And really, more than just a playoff team. I think a lot of people would consider the Lions to be on the short list of legitimate Superbowl contenders.

Well, power rankings and predictions of any sort are a fool's game, really.

They only exist to pass the time and spur discussion.

Just behind Chicago, though.

Yeah, but they're no Dream Team.

A distant second.
